A suave secret agent adventure game. Your mission (should you choose to accept) is to infiltrate enemy spy Ruby La Rouge’s secret hideaway and put a stop to her evil plans!

Runs well on modern hardware.

Why are these guys making a game about a badger when they should be working on the sequel to this classic?
I remember picking this up very cheaply a while ago, and I finally decided to play it because I really love point-and-click games and the concept of a 1960s spy story. I was pleasantly surprised by the level of creativity on display and how fun the puzzles were. The inclusion of randomized puzzles that change with each playthrough was a great touch and made them highly engaging to figure out.
Concept & Puzzle Design
The concept of a spy story combined with escape room style puzzles and a point-and-click gameplay loop fits together perfectly. Thanks to the creatively designed puzzles, it makes for a highly relaxing and enjoyable experience. I really appreciated that several puzzles are randomized on each playthrough. This forces you to actually engage with the mechanics instead of just looking up the answers online. The game is quite short, and I actually managed to unlock the speedrun achievement on my very first playthrough. The logic behind the puzzles is mostly straightforward, though a few require some extra thought. The pacing is excellent, and the pre-rendered cutscenes keep you invested in the unfolding narrative. These cutscenes don't just appear at the start or end of chapters, they also trigger whenever you uncover a major clue to help solve the case.
Atmosphere, Art Style & Story
I absolutely love the retro aesthetic and art style, which perfectly capture those cool, classic spy movie vibes. The story of chasing a rogue agent who caused a major crisis for your agency is engaging enough to keep you hooked, and the audio and music blend beautifully with the visual design. The atmosphere is excellent, backed up by a solid narrative that held my attention until the very end, even if one major plot twist was a bit too predictable.
Achievements & The Gunther Grind
The game features some really entertaining achievements, like calling a specific number to order a shoe phone, which is exactly what it sounds like, or intentionally clogging a sink. Of course, there are also a few tedious ones. For instance, you have to spend about 10 minutes running back and forth to feed a bird named Gunther with fish. It gets annoying because you can only carry one fish at a time, forcing you to constantly backtrack between the boat and the bird. It is not a massive issue, just a bit tedious, and it certainly didn't ruin my overall enjoyment of the game or the hunt for 100% completion.
Final Thoughts
For me, this was the perfect game to wind down after finishing a massive title, as it keeps you thinking without turning your brain off completely. Granted, I am a massive fan of point-and-click adventures, which is a niche genre that feels a bit overlooked these days. I also love a good escape room experience where you solve puzzles to break out. If you are looking for mind-bending riddles, keep in mind that this isn't a hardcore, try-hard puzzle game, and it doesn't pretend to be. It strikes a nice balance with a mix of simple and slightly more complex challenges, but nothing overwhelming. The fact that certain puzzles are dynamic and change for each player is a fantastic feature. Overall, it is a great game to pick up, and even if you don't have much experience with puzzle games or point-and-click adventures, it is incredibly easy to jump into and enjoy.
Rating: 8/10
