Someone recommended this game after I mentioned "A Short Hike" was one of my favorites. Unfortunately, Alba did not scratch that same itch. Alba is just a little too simple and straightforward for my tastes. There wasn't really any sense of surprise or discovery while exploring the island. The narrative was full of tired tropes, the dialogue was skip-worthy, and the characters lacked distinct and memorable personalities. That said, Alba is still a solid, well-crafted, cute cozy exploration game. If that's what you're looking for, you'll get it here.
The Ultimate Wholesome Photography Adventure

Rating: 10/10
Alba: A Wildlife Adventure is that rare kind of video game that leaves you feeling lighter than when you started it. It trades high-stakes combat and tough puzzles for something much rarer: pure, unadulterated community spirit, environmental care, and the simple, profound joy of wildlife photography. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3767687286
Pro Photographer's Perspective
As a professional photographer, it is a joy to see a game treat the camera not just as a tool for completion, but as a genuine instrument of connection. Exploring the sun-drenched Mediterranean island to photograph local birds, squirrels, and animals feels remarkably authentic. The game balances its photography mechanics with a satisfying cataloging system, making every successful shot of a rare animal feel like a minor triumph. You aren't just checking boxes; you are building a digital archive of vibrant moments. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3769175129
Fulfillment and Balance
The game strikes an immaculate balance in pacing. It never feels overwhelming, yet it gives you a tangible sense of purpose as you work towards a goal. Cleaning up trash, fixing birdhouses, and scanning wildlife create a soothing, loops-within-loops gameplay structure. Every action directly improves the environment, making your progression feel deeply fulfilling from start to finish.
Visuals
Visually, Alba is a gorgeous pastel postcard. The warm lighting, gentle sea breeze animations, and vibrant flora make you want to step right into the screen. Combined with an acoustic-driven soundtrack that feels like a lazy summer afternoon, the entire experience is an absolute aesthetic triumph.
Time?
6.8 hours to 100%. All achievements are chapter-based, so don't worry about missing any. Use a controller! Try not to use a guide, as it's more fulfilling to find what you are looking for on your own.
Final Verdict
Sunshine, Wildlife, and a Phone. Alba is the ultimate feel-good masterpiece. Must-play for those who like cozy, wholesome games. Maybe you'll fall in love with the art of photography! Leave a Like if you found this review useful https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3769175328
This game is 3-4 hours in play, so I recommend a sale, for my own preference. However, it's a lovely 3-4 hour game with mellow and enjoyable exploration with a great sense of place. Regional bits of music, bird song everywhere you go. The area was very reminiscent of the coastal areas of Italy I visited, and the story and controls flowed simply and well. (Though I would love a teensy jump, just because.) I encourage going from day to day in order to unlock more ways to fix things up quickly. Also, as a heads up, this has an ongoing message of nature cleanup and nature stewardship.
