American Truck Simulator is a truck simulator game developed and published by SCS Software. It was first announced as being in development in September 2013 and unveiled at the E3 2015. It was released on February 2, 2016 for Microsoft Windows, Linux, and macOS. The game is the parallel to Euro Truck Simulator 2, the spiritual successor of 18 Wheels of Steel, and the fifth installment in the Truck Simulator series. The game is set in a condensed depiction of the United States, featuring American conventional semi-trucks and various locations across the U.S., where players pick up a variety of cargos and deliver them to their destinations.

Runs well on modern hardware.

Honestly, I donโt get it, and that's fine. I am still leaving this as Recommended because I can see why people enjoy it even if I do not. American Truck Simulator is a solid game for anyone who genuinely loves driving. The trucks feel heavy, the world looks great, and the whole experience is built around long, quiet stretches of road. That is exactly where it loses me. I do not like long distance driving in real life, so doing it in a game does not magically make it fun. I thought it would be a chill background game I could play while watching anime or YouTube, but instead I end up wanting to do anything else. I have launched it several times hoping it would click, and every time I get bored after the first delivery. It is not the gameโs fault. It is simply not my kind of relaxing. If you enjoy long drives, slow pacing, and that meditative cruising feeling, this game will probably be perfect for you. If the idea of staring at the road for an hour sounds like a chore, you might loathe it the same way I did. Not for me, but definitely not a bad game.
I figured after 600 hours, I should finally give my opinion. This game is the best semi truck driving simulator out there. They have taken time to make the details as realistic as possible for the ratio used. The scenery is gorgeous. It's fun to see what the pedestrians are doing. And the npc drivers will definitely give you road rage! lol You have to watch out for them as if they hit you, YOU still get a ticket! My son is a semi truck driver irl and he says this game is as close to real life as a game can get. He has played several hours as well. If driving a semi truck appeals to you, then I hope my review helped. Why are you still reading and not driving yet?? ;)
Very little stress in this game, Great graphics, realistic as you want it to be.
