Amnesia: The Dark Descent is a 2010 survival horror adventure game developed and published by Frictional Games. It was first released on 8 September 2010 for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. Later, it was released to PlayStation 4 on 22 November 2016, Xbox One on 28 September 2018, and Nintendo Switch on 12 September 2019 as part of The Amnesia Collection. The game follows Daniel, who must explore the dark and foreboding Castle Brennenburg, while trying to maintain his sanity by avoiding monsters and unsettling events.

Runs well on modern hardware.

One of the best psychological horror titles out there. It's a must play for any horror fans. To keep it short, the atmosphere (both creepy and eerie), music, areas, enemies are really well done. The sanity mechanic is a good addition and that can for example cause your run to end at any point if you're not careful with how long you are staying in the dark or looking at the monsters. There is no fighting back. It's hide and seek with limited tinderboxes, oil and a lantern that you can't keep on all the time either. Because if you do, that could be the end of you. A very well crafted title by Frictional Games. Rating: 9/10
I finally got around to playing this after 16 years of it being out. This series has been a core memory for me since watching Pewdiepie play it back in the day. This game has a good story and a good (canon) ending. It's really not very scary, but it definitely does settings and sounds and voice acting well. I just never felt that engaged while playing, which means I never was really immersed, but I think that's just a me problem in this case. I'd recommend it when you can get it on sale. $20 is a price that I can say I wouldn't recommend it at, unless you also have fond memories of it and it's kind of a nostalgia piece for you. 6/10 - I recommend, but barely.
Hard to get into and little overhyped in how scary it is but it got fun after a while
