Among Ashes

A really good creepypasta style horror game with a pretty unique concept. I really liked the whole idea of playing a game inside another game and how the two slowly start to mix together. The retro visuals also fit the whole thing perfectly and give it that old internet horror feeling. The story was probably my favorite part. I really enjoyed slowly figuring out what was actually going on and seeing how everything connects together. There are also some really creepy moments, especially when the game starts blurring the line between what's happening in the game and what's happening in reality. I also really liked how the game keeps introducing different ideas and gameplay sections instead of just sticking to one thing. I do think some parts of the gameplay could've been better and there were a few sections that felt more annoying than scary. But honestly, I still had a really good time with it. There's a lot of interesting stuff packed into this game and I really liked what it was trying to do with the whole creepypasta and game within a game concept. I absolutely loved it because of the unique ideas and it even reminded me a lot of the earlier days of horror games.

This was fantastic, I enjoyed the mystery, the wall breaking and just the overall vibe. I don't have too much to say, just go in blind and have a good time. My only annoyance was by pure muscle memory I was pressing tab instead of I for inventory a lot. Tab literally tabs you out of the game, so that took me out quite often. With I being so far away from wasd and your mouse, it didn't have a great game feel. The game also had random stutters sometimes, which seemingly teleported me. But it didn't happen often and was quite minor.

A modern indie horror classic. The scares are really well done, and the conceit of switching between the game and the "game" is really well realized. Doesn't overstay its welcome, the story is fairly simple but told very well, and even when it's not actively scary, it remains tense throughout. Highly recommend
