I played so much of this game. I love rally, i love racing games, everything about this game entices me and grabs my attention. Its beautiful, goes through all of the groups of old rally and has pretty much every single iconic car that there is to want to play the game. The amount of modes after the career is amazing, and the game is simple and enjoyable. But there are some flaws of this game that i don't think the average player base will be able to handle unless you can thoroughly look past them and enjoy the game for the cars, rally, and beauty. One of the main things that turned me off of this game is the graphics. It has VERY good graphics, but it is terribly optimized. It would load in every single polygon from every stage that i did and ramp up the graphics card usage over a short amount of time. I wish that i could keep my graphics on highest because my graphics card is able to handle it. I have a 4060 ti for those wondering. I had to turn my graphics to the lowest setting in order to play for a decent amount of time, rather than just 1 rally. The second thing that isn't the best but is manageable is the turning in this game. Something about the counter steer is off, and the car constantly wants to realign itself while you're accelerating at any angle. Yes i turned counter steer assist to 0% and everything else off to force my controls to be the only inputs, and the car still wants to straighten out. No this is not a skill issue, i got top 1% (top 500) on several tracks and consistently got 1st places with no restarts. I had to fight this throughout the entire game but i think for me, it was worth it. The last thing that i have a gripe with is the surfaces and some hitboxes of objects. To start the surfaces are not accurate, rainy tarmac should not be more slippery than snow. The rain feels like ice, and it is impossible to get a consistent turn on it. There is a reason that nobody time trials the rain maps. To finish it off, the hitboxes are ridiculous, especially those bridges and other walls. They have no smooth surfaces and if you bump into them very gracefully you will come to a full stop after going 200kpm. Also some other objects are ridiculously rigid like the haybales and animals, despite some things like the billboards being easier to drive through than butter. PROMISE THIS IS THE LAST THING BUT ITS IDEAS. I wish they did more with the repairs, i never had to do more than clean my car and i never got a lot of time loss or repair management from the game. I also wish there was navigation notes, especially for turns that are hidden behind trees or buildings, or right after a long and steep uphill to downhill. Last things, i wish they had more tracks for the less and more powerful cars, groups 2-3 felt like i was holding down acceleration through everything, and S-A felt like i was braking every 2 seconds. VERY GOOD GAME. I LIKE IT A LOT AND I UNDERSTAND IT IS AN INDIE DEVELOPER. But for the general steam audience who doesn't like racing games but wanted to give this a try, it makes it harder to play. Hopefully this is helpful to the developer and people reading this before they spend the money for an enjoyable yet frustrating 20 hour experience.
absolute incredible game with a great ammount of content for the price! if youre a rally fan this game is a must own, but even if you just slightly like racing this game is for you too! the cars handle suprising well and the courses are all incredibly fun. their other game they made, absolute drift is also incredible so play that too if you havent! and the next installment is gonna be an offroading truck crawler type game, and im super excited for that. these devs are killin it!
Great game with a surprising amount of depth considering its simple appearance. Different cars have very distinct feelings and the campaign over the years offer a nice progression.
