Black Myth: Wukong is an action RPG rooted in Chinese mythology. The story is based on Journey to the West, one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature. You shall set out as the Destined One to venture into the challenges and marvels ahead, to uncover the obscured truth beneath the veil of a glorious legend from the past.

Runs well on modern hardware.

First off, visually this game is absolutely stunning. Every chapter looks incredible, and the art direction is top-tier. My main advice to anyone looking at this game: do not buy it expecting Elden Ring or Sekiro. It isn't a Soulsborne game, and judging it by those standards misses what makes it special. It has its own rhythm, structure, and combat identity. The only real hurdle for me is the story. It is deeply rooted in Chinese mythology and heavy Buddhist lore/references. Unless you're already familiar with Journey to the West or Eastern philosophy, a lot of the narrative and nuances are probably going to go right over your head (they certainly did for me). Still, if you appreciate action, amazing boss designs, and breathtaking visual design, it's well worth playing. Just enjoy the ride for what it is.
Played this a while back when it released and completely forgot to leave a review, so here it goes. After 100+ hours and 100% completion, I can confidently say Black Myth: Wukong exceeded every expectation I had. The combat is incredibly satisfying, rewarding skill without ever feeling unfair... well, aside from the few times I almost punched a hole through my monitor. Even then, I always wanted to jump right back in. Every boss feels unique, and overcoming the toughest fights was one of the most rewarding experiences I've had in a long time. The visuals are absolutely stunning, the soundtrack fits every moment perfectly, and the world is full of beautiful locations inspired by Chinese mythology. I can't really speak on the mythology itself since I don't know much about it, but the setting was gorgeous from start to finish. I rarely spend this much time on a single game, but Wukong kept me coming back until there was nothing left to do. Every achievement felt earned, and finally seeing that 100% completion was incredibly satisfying. I'm also a huge soulslike fiend, so the struggle just made it even more fun. If you're looking for an action RPG with challenging bosses, gorgeous environments, and some of the most satisfying combat around, this is an easy recommendation. One thing to keep in mind, though: this game is very demanding. Make sure your PC meets (or preferably exceeds) the recommended specs if you want the best experience.
