By way of analogy, BlazBlue Entropy Effect is to Dead Cells what Synthetik2 is to Hades2 and Monster Train2 is to Sly the Spire2...all of these games are good, and depending on your preferences, you will find one of the groups more appealing. I picked up this game because I was looking for a 2D arcade roguelike platformer to have in my daily rotation alongside with Synthetik 2. If you were a fan of 2D side-scrolling, slashers/shooters on arcades when you were younger, this game might be your dream come true. The game gives me the same joyful, dopamine-fueled vibes I experienced in the golden age of arcades. I'm very pleasantly surprised by the level of polish, both visually and gameplay-wise. The gameplay itself is excellent, movement and fight mechanics are fluid, fast, responsive, and skill-based. I think that with the large number of characters and the opportunities to develop your own build with advanced roguelike progression system, the replayability will be phenomenal. (If I'm not mistaken, there are as many as 16 playable characters, each with different characteristics, there's even a character from Dead Cells... and in this graphics he looks absolutely amazing). YT videos do not objectively reflect the gameplay of this game, they look like total chaos on the screen, while the real gameplay is clear and offers satisfying control over the character. At first, you might feel lost in the game's systems. For me, this isn't a problem, but rather a benefit; learning the mechanics is an additional incentive to delve deeper into the game.
One of the best rogue-lites out right now, it has snappy fast paced combat, it has fighting game combos that make you feel like the coolest person alive without being too complicated, it offers many characters with each character having a wildly different playstyle and move set than the last, and the support from the developers for this game is insane (yes part of that is because its early access) but despite that there are constant updates bringing not only balance patches but a bunch of new content and DLCs drop very frequently adding some fan favorite characters for the fans of the franchise and new skins for existing the pre existing characters, there is also plenty of difficulty modification (which is needed after you reach certain hours to keep things fresh) and recently in the Blazblue entropy effect x update they add a whole new free story mode (which is way better than the OG one imo) and an even higher difficulty option which adds a whole new stage to the game with new enemies and making the old bosses have a harder extreme version and adding 3 new bosses 2 of them being extremely important to the existing Blazblue lore and all of it is just beautiful to see happen to a game that I love so dearly, This game was also a gateway for me to enter and really dive into the Blazblue fandom as a whole and now i am a huge fan of everything Blazblue and might pickup one of the previous fighting games (never thought id say that) just because I love the franchise that much now. Conclusion: If you are looking for a fast paced action rogue-lite that is similar to deadcells, has amazing developer support and fanbase, is based on one of the coolest franchises of recent time, and even has co-op so you can enjoy this masterpiece with a friend then Blazblue entropy effect is the game for you. 9/10 will always recommend
I'm a huge fan of Deadcells and have never really been able to find that 2d roguelike 'fix' that I got from it. After having Entropy Effect on my wishlist for the last couple years I finally decided to bite the bullet and give the game a try since the game was on sale. I can't believe I waited this long to give the game a try. It's fantastic, the gameplay, the artstyle, the boss fights. The roster of characters each with their own unique moveset also adds a lot to the experience. I can see myself putting a ton of time into this game and I can say if you like Deadcells, you have to give this game a try. There's even an entirely seperate Deadcells gamemode that lets you play as the MC from that game.
