Buckshot Roulette is a 2023 indie tabletop horror video game developed and published by Estonian video game developer Mike Klubnika on itch.io. It was released on Steam by Critical Reflex on 4 April 2024 to coincide with a new update. The game has been likened to the 2021 roguelike video game Inscryption, despite contrasting visual styles. Klubnika developed the game in the Godot game engine and also composed the game's soundtrack.

Runs well on modern hardware.

I first heard of Buckshot Roulette when it was having its moment, and while the concept drew me in, I never got around to it until recently. two years late and a 100k reviews deep, but here’s my two cents anyway, for whatever they’re worth from someone with the benefit of hindsight. this is a practically perfect $3 game with an indescribable level of polish. the premise is simple: russian roulette with an array of items that let you manipulate the odds. you play against the dealer, a creepy masked entity, until you win. once you do, you can keep pushing for double or nothing till oblivion. the gameplay loop is so tight and addictive that I’ve sunk 12 hours into the same thing over and over and I’m still willing to do more. that’s the whole pitch, really. it earns every minute of it. the multiplayer mode matches the original, maybe surpasses it. where the base game is about reading a system, multiplayer is about reading people. there’s a particular rush that comes from taking a stupid risk against a real opponent and watching it land. the stakes feel higher because they are. normally, I’d factor in sale prices, but this game’s $3. if anything here appealed to you, there’s genuinely no reason not to play it. wholehearted recommend.
The game is good and worth your money, but if you want to 100% this game I recommend removing that idea from your brain. Unless you are willing to experience hours of frustration from bad RNG rolls and constant 50/50s PRAYING that for once the game is in your favor, you should most likely just play the campaign and then maybe multiplayer with a couple of your friends. Having TWO achievements requiring you to reach 1 million dollars in double or nothing feels absolutely horrible. I want to 100% this game, and will continue to try because I genuinely enjoy this game, but booting it up just to be put through the torment nexus for 2 hours before quitting out is not fun. My only complaint about the actual game is the slow unskippable animations for literally everything. Good luck to everyone trying to 100% this game. Trust me, you'll need it.
This game has a predecessor - it's called Resident Evil 7 Banned Footage VOL.2, conceptually and mechanically it is identical, the difference is that you play cards instead. Even some of the visuals like you being wired to contraption during the game looking at your "health". Yeah, this is a review. I think Buckshot Roulette is simpler but definitely has more style and unique lore. Also am a huge fan of the main menu music.
