Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is a 2007 first-person shooter game developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. It is the fourth main installment in the Call of Duty series. The game breaks away from the World War II setting of previous entries and is instead set in modern times. Developed over two years, Modern Warfare was released in November 2007 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows. A Wii port, developed by Treyarch and subtitled Reflex Edition, was released in 2009. It was followed by two sequels that continue the storyline: Modern Warfare 2 (2009) and Modern Warfare 3 (2011).

Runs well on modern hardware.

It is COD four, but 20 bucks feels like a bit much, would get on sale.
"Fifty thousand people used to live here." Glad to say this game still holds up. A top three multiplayer experience growing up as a kid. Right up there with SOCOM II and GEARS OF WAR. Campaign is still fun, graphics hold up well for a 2007 game, and the music is surprisingly well, even though it repeats, sometimes. Worth the ten dollars on sale, for sure. Wish somehow anti-cheat was available for Linux/SteamDeck to play online again. Speaking of SteamDeck... there is a movement glitch but once the game autosaves a checkpoint, just quit and reload and your fast movement will return! 97/100
For the longest time, I thought to see how CoD4 would fare in 2026. I think the last I played through it was on PS3. I have to say that I'v never been fan of the arcady shooting of CoD games, but still in spite of that, I gotta say I have to respect this title. Campaign was about as short I remembered, which means very short, but many of the missions where well scripted and there's a lot going on. Linearity wasn't as bad I remembered tbh. Yes very linear, but game almost manages to give bit of freedom of approach in few occasions, which I have to admit I didn't remember. Graphics and sounds have stood time better than I thought. Gameplay for me is bit meh, but as mentioned these linear arcady shooters aren't exactly my jam, so that with a grain of salt. So would I recommend to play this in 2026? Sure if you're into linear fast paced shooter, want varied environments and short movie like experience (movie with most generic plot), and don't mind obviously dated graphics, why not. Though I just noticed that full price is still fairly absurd 19,99€ and I absolutely wouldn't pay that in 2026, but in sale for less than 10€, sure I think I'd recommend to try this. 7,5/10
