Call of Juarez: Gunslinger

This ma' first time finishing a game set in the Wild West... even tho it was short lived, I would absolutely recommend anyone to try out this fine work of digital art, at least in one afternoon.. The game is filled with extremely creative gimmicks like: - [b] Concentration [/b] (an ability you activate after finishing off a couple of foes, and when activated the game slows down and enemies start glowin' red so you can easily spot em') - [b] Near death experience [/b] (sometimes when you're too distracted in not havin' yourself end up 6ft under, an animation might pop up of a bullet comin' straight at ya' where you are presented with two choices, either movin' right or left, sounds simple, but one wrong move and you're dead, sonny boy..) - [b] The Standoffs [/b] (in this game you do have bosses, but most importantly you have the standoffs.. manage your speed and focus before decidin' if you want to get a dishonourable kill by pulling out the shooter first or get a honourable one by lettin' the motherf*cker do that first) The thing I liked the most is that while you're playing, that same character you're playin' as is sittin' at the bar, years later, tellin' people that exact same story. With that also come some goofy moments when Silas Greaves (the narrator, and the guy you're playin' as) makes a mistake, so the whole game has to f*ckin' revert you 15 minutes back, a little overexaggeration, but it do be like that sometimes... Now when it comes to the cons, there are only 3 things I didn't like much.. First, was the mechanics in the Standoff gimmick, with the dishonourable and honourable kills, wtf is the logic behind this? Why would it matter if I pulled the gun first or not? "The history will remember you as a coward if you do so" well f*ck you, the whole point is to finish your opponent. Second. Imagine you're walking through a cave, going towards the next big area and BOOM, the game randomly focuses you on some random c*cksucker 15km away telling you to quickly press a certain key so you can kill him. Why is this a thing? It's very unpredictable and annoyin' in ma' honest opinion. And finally, third, lack of weapon variety. I mean, I can sort off understand this, you play in the time periods of the late 18th and start of the 19th century, but one boss that you are supposed to fight had a SNIPER. Why couldn't I get a sniper? The pistols without a doubt have the most variety, unlike the shotguns and rifles.

This game is such an underrated gem. The whole idea of the story being narrated by two guys talking in a saloon is the coolest idea ever to me, and I love when certain things are exaggerated or played twice, one the way Silas tells it and one the way Ben tells it. The combat is MUCH better on hard difficulty, and it is just so fun. There aren't too many tanky enemies except for bosses, and I love any game where a headshot is almost always a guaranteed kill. I'm not even finished with the story, but this just blew me away and I had to write a review. It is always super cheap on sale, what a game.

its a fun western game that has a solid story and interesting original characters and it also has a few famous outlaws like billy the kid and jesse james. also the collectibles are actually interesting because they tell you interesting facts about the wild west. the shooting is very engaging and smooth. sometimes the level feels a bit too long but then it pauses and the characters narrating do or say something funny that really helps break up the gameplay. overall great game and a must play if you like westerns
