Cocoon is a game gone too soon, which is a good and a bad thing. It’s great because it looks great, sounds great, and its core puzzle mechanics are easy to grasp and start puzzling with, but the length also makes for a lack of depth, where I never got stuck or even stumped much by any puzzle. All the puzzles were polished and felt like they were leading up to a final, grander, high difficulty puzzle level, but sadly felt like they missed the mark on it. I still think it’s a great game for a short little puzzler, but I don’t think Cocoon ever got to leave its chrysalis fully.
An easy puzzle game with amazing art and sound design. Doesn't outstay its welcome and is well worth the price of admission.
This is a beautifully crafted puzzle game. It doesn't develop much of a plot (at least not one that I grasped), it's just intricate world design and interesting game mechanics to solve some increasingly difficult spatial/sequential puzzles. I was never stuck for more than a couple minutes, but there's really nothing in the way of "hints" if you do get confused. The "boss fights" weren't too difficult and nothing was very frustrating; if you fail, you quickly just go right back to the start of that thing. The main game element does get a little tedious sometimes, but the level design, graphics, and music kept me engaged until the end. It's a weird little game, for sure. I beat it in 4 hours and enjoyed the experience over a few nights, but I couldn't see playing it for much longer than that. Overall, I would recommend it for puzzle-lovers with some patience, but I don't know if it's worth the current $25 asking price just because of its short length. Maybe wait for a sale.
