In this classic point-and-click adventure anthology you follow the path of Dale Vandermeer, a homicide detective, as he investigates the death of a woman and finds himself drawn into the mysterious world of Rusty Lake. Cube Escape was Rusty Lake's first series of games, introducing the Rusty Lake universe. Heavily inspired by TV series Twin Peaks. All games will be updated, preserved and bundled on Steam for a small price, to survive the end of the Flash Games era. The Cube Escape Collection will contain 9 chapters: Seasons, The Lake, Arles, Harvey's Box, Case 23, The Mill, Birthday, Theatre and The Cave. Thanks for your support! PLEASE NOTE: These games do not contain any new content from their original versions (besides achievements, a new hint system and translations)!

Runs well on modern hardware.

6/10 Cube Escape Collection contains point and click puzzle flash games set in Rusty Lake. Enjoyable but cryptic and unmemorable. Context: Rusty Lake is a world in which the developers had created. I did not have this context prior to playing and assumed it was a different franchise. There’s no real backstory within this game but it is a fully fleshed out world within the developer’s sphere. I did not play the original versions so this is my entrance to that knowledge. Cube Escape Collection is an anthology of 9 separate chapters set within the fictional Rusty Lake universe. The games carry the same tone and artstyle but the point and click puzzles differ from each other. They’re challenging, quirky, and a little offputting. The gameplay consists of point and click puzzle mechanics and room traversal to progress the story. The art and music all suit the odd atmosphere of the game and I didn’t encounter any bugs while playing it. The game itself is pretty creepy but doesn’t contain any jumpscares or psychological scares of note. Many of the puzzles were intuitive enough but if you get stuck there’s a hint mechanic that can help. It took me ~5 hours to finish the game with all achievements. No cards. I didn’t get a coherent answer to what the story was meant to be and am unsure if it’s supposed to have an overarching theme. It played like separate quirky puzzles set within the universe of Rusty Lake. I saw the horror and mystery tags but I didn’t get that eerie feeling nor depth to warrant them while playing. I didn’t enjoy a lot of the sounds that would play during the puzzles, especially the screechy ones. Many of the puzzles didn’t make sense to me and the theme seemed all over the place. Although, I don’t think I was the right audience for this game. I didn’t personally enjoy this style of game but I can definitely see an audience for it and would recommend it with caution. Pros

Worldbuilding is spectacular.
Entertainingly cryptic.
Morbid themes done right.
Artstyle suits the game.
Music fits the aesthetic.
Multiple chapters.
Seemed to be interconnected.
Challenging puzzles.
Didn’t encounter any bugs.
Achievements are achievable.
Cons

I didn’t personally enjoy it.
I don’t think there’s meant to be a story?
If there is a story, it wasn’t done well.
Some puzzles made no logical sense.
Annoying sounds.

I hated that parrot. Amazing game that starts an amazing series. The lore goes deep. Highly recommend
ꨄ My rating: 9/10 ꨄ Pros: - The artstyle of this game is very good, its vibe is extremely unsettling and lots of things that happen during its puzzles makes you feel like you're experiencing a fever dream (or nightmare). - For people that used to play lots of flash games during their childhood (like me), will likely remember this game and feel really nostalgic playing. I can confirm that the game runs extremely well and didn't find any bug during the hours that I've spent playing it. - The puzzles can be really hard at times, but most of the time makes you feel rewarded for figuring it out. Some of them are timed and can make you panic which adds to the horror atmosphere of the game. - "Cube Escape Collection" features 9 of the Rusty Lake classic flash games, so it features lots of hours of gameplay and makes it easier to follow the story of the game as they're all in the order that is recommended to play. Cons: - Some puzzles are reliant on playing previous games and remembering key details, which can feel frustrating at times and personally made me have to look up a guide at times as I couldn't be bothered to try and remember it, much less replaying a level I had just finished a few days ago. - The storyline can be extremely confusing at times, and made me look it up online to try and make sense of it, but take this with a grain of salt as that's also kinda the point of the game: being surreal and "confusing" to the player.
