Originally released by LucasArts in 1993 as a sequel to Ron Gilbert’s ground breaking Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle is a mind-bending, time travel, cartoon puzzle adventure game in which three unlikely friends work together to prevent an evil mutated purple tentacle from taking over the world! Now, over twenty years later, Day of the Tentacle is back in a remastered edition that features all new hand-drawn, high resolution artwork, with remastered audio, music and sound effects (which the original 90s marketing blurb described as "zany!") Players are able to switch back and forth between classic and remastered modes, and mix and match audio, graphics and user interface to their heart's desire. We’ve also included a concept art browser, and recorded a commentary track with the game’s original creators Tim Schafer, Dave Grossman, Larry Ahern, Peter Chan, Peter McConnell and Clint Bajakian. Day of the Tentacle was Tim Schafer’s first game as co-project lead, and a much beloved cult classic! This special edition has been lovingly restored and remade with the care and attention that can only come from involving the game's original creators. It’s coming to Windows, OSX, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita early next year!

Runs well on modern hardware.

Day of the Tentacle is incredibly nostalgic for me. I played it years ago as a child, along with Maniac Mansion, and it really does hold up. That said, coming back to it with fresh adult eyes, some of the puzzles feel a little unintuitive. Honestly, what saved me at times was my memory from playing it as a kid, without recalling some of the more bizarre, outside-the-box solutions, I’m sure I would have been completely stuck. While the time travel feature is crazy unique and makes for a really interesting way to solve puzzles it can also be super confusing what items you need in which time period and why. One of the biggest highlights for me is the ability to switch seamlessly between the original pixel art and the remastered, more cartoony style. It’s fascinating to see how everything was translated, and I found myself constantly flicking between the two just to compare. It’s a fantastic experience for any longtime LucasArts fan, and a great reminder of why these games are so beloved. And don’t forget! You can play through the entirety of Maniac Mansion within the game as well!
One of the best games ever made! Hilarious, clever and fun! The remastered version stays true to the original look and feel of the game. Love that I can switch between the new and old graphics.
Really fun game, I love the wacky-ness and the characters and the setting! It looks amazing too, I really appreciate how true they seemed to have stuck to the OG game while making it nicer looking AND giving you the option for the original style! Don't be afraid to occasionally look up a hint guide, I got stuck a few times purely because I didn't menu correctly even though i knew the solution (theres alot of ways you can interact with objects in this game!)
