Dead Space 2 is a 2011 survival horror game developed by Visceral Games and published by Electronic Arts. It was released for PlayStation 3, Windows, and Xbox 360 in January. The second mainline entry in the Dead Space series, set on the Titan-based Sprawl space station, follows series protagonist Isaac Clarke as he fights against both an outbreak of the monstrous Necromorphs and debilitating mental illness induced by the alien Markers. Gameplay features Isaac exploring a series of levels, solving puzzles to progress, and finding resources while fighting off Necromorphs. The game included a competitive multiplayer, with the Sprawl's security forces fighting teams of Necromorphs.

Runs well on modern hardware.

Good: ‣ Better combat than the first game. ‣ Gory visuals and disturbing scenes. ‣ More engaging story than the first game. Both Dead Space 1 and Dead Space 2 tell their stories differently. Dead Space 1 is more ambiguous and atmospheric, while Dead Space 2 is more character-driven. ‣ Isaac is now voiced and has meaningful character development throughout the game. ‣ More content: more suits and more weapons. ‣ New Game+. Mixed: ‣ Less horror, more action. I don't mind the shift because I found it more fun. ‣ Clunky movement, but you get used to it. ‣ Predictable at times, both in the story and in how the game introduces enemy encounters. Bad: ‣ You need MarketPatch which adds QoL improvements, bug fixes, and enhancements that make the game look and run better. ‣ No Steam Achievements. ‣ No Multiplayer. Overall, Dead Space 2 is a good game BUT takes a different direction from its predecessor. It's faster-paced, less horror-focused, and more action-oriented, all that while the story and gameplay feels more linear (mainly because you don't backtrack much in this game).
This game still holds up over a decade later. It deserves a remaster.
Hands down a perfect sequel. It gives you everything you could possibly want for a sequel to Dead Space. Masterfully crafted set pieces to keep you engaged in each chapter, beautiful story and characters and very memorable enemy design that has me looking up the lore after finishing the game. Ramps up the psychological horror, FEAR-esque a lot of the time. I liked the shift in tone as you've already most likely spent hours in Dead Space 1 fighting the same necromorphs, so body horror really doesn't phase you anymore. Download the Marker Patch before you play, it fixes the entire PC port and made it super enjoyable with no graphical issues or crashes.
