w.d gaster in deltarune built it all from an empty room. Mike the cat yeah that is gaster even the fountain that is gaster
Years after Undertale took the internet by storm with its quirky characters and rich storytelling, Toby Fox silently released chapter 1 of Deltarune. As a spiritual successor it evolved many of the RPG mechanics and aimed to be a much larger story in scope, and nearly 8 years later with the 5th chapter releasing, it certainly proved itself to be a worthy successor to Undertale's greatness. While I typically would wait for the game to fully release, Deltarune has been long in development and I'm far too excited to talk about it. Each chapter is its own self-contained adventure all the while contributing to a larger narrative story that has been built chapter by chapter, making each of them distinctly stand on their own. It really is one of my favorite games of all time right by Undertale for reasons that anyone relatively aware of internet culture has seen;

One of the greatest video game soundtracks that keeps managing to top itself each chapter, with constant overarching leitmotifs
Lovable characters that you can't help but end up rooting for, whether they're good or bad
Constant gags and visual humor that constantly catches me off guard, perfectly balancing serious moments with jokes
A fully thought out world rewarding players that pick up on little details that turn into big reveals later on
Constant new mechanics and ideas being thrown at the player making it so the game never feels like a drag despite being a full-length RPG
Deltarune is in my top few games along with Undertale, both are games that have caused me to feel very deep emotions. I've been inspired by these games, they've made me laugh so many times and I even cried at the end of chapter 5, it really is a work of magic.
I mean it's good.. I just didn't like the direction that Chapter 6 went in, the poop dungeon was really weird and disgusting.
