A Solid Entry, With An Even Better Sequel
Review After 100% I came to play Divinity Original Sin Enhanced multiple times, but never really got deep into it enough beforehand to progress far enough to actually finish it until now as I write this review. This game encourages a lot of creativity and out the box thinking if you want to make the best of your surroundings! Essentially, every combat encounter feels like a sandbox where positioning, crowd control and skill choices provides such a huge outcome in how your fights go, it's standard of Larian now as per titles like Divinity 2 and BG3. Larian always gives trust to the player to figure things out instead of constantly holding your hand, which is something I love in many CRPG's, this included! It's something that is lacking in many other mainstream games. I can't comment on co-op as I never dove into this, but it's there and I'm sure it's equally as fun considering the other entries in Larian's bag. The soundtrack is stellar as always, and of course there's full voice acting which is perfect for players who prefer this over a reading heavy CRPG such as Pillars of Eternity or Pathfinder for example. I played on Keyboard/Mouse but tried controller and both are great and responsive in each way, I just prefer KB/M in these type of games, but I found no issues. Unfortunately, the pacing of the game can drag, and similar to other CRPG's, inventory management gets messy and quite hard to manage the further you progress into the game. It just takes some time to clear some things out and focus on what you need to prioritize. The story as well, in my opinion doesn't hold a candle to its next title, Divinity Original Sin 2, but that's not to say it isn't good. It's above average and it's easy to get immersed in this world thanks to the graphics, voice acting, and creativity for combat encounters. This whole series is on sale very often, so I can't recommend this game enough whenever a sale rolls around, definitely pick this one up! For me, it's a vital game in anyone's library if you love a good RPG to dedicate a chunk of time into. Enjoy!
