Doom is a 2016 first-person shooter game developed by id Software and published by Bethesda Softworks. The game is the first major installment in the Doom series since 2004's Doom 3 and is a reboot of the franchise. It was released for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One in May 2016. A port for Nintendo Switch was co-developed with Panic Button and released in November 2017, and a version for Stadia was released in August 2020. Players take the role of a space marine, known colloquially as the Doom Slayer, as he battles demonic forces within an energy-mining facility on Mars and in Hell.

Runs well on modern hardware.

Excellent game! Only took me 10 years to beat it and it holds up nicely.
Music volume -> 100% Windows volume -> 100% Volume booster -> 500% This was the first game of "this kind" for me, and it completely exceeded my expectations. It was... fantastic. The gameplay is so fun to play - fast, fluid, and satisfying. The difficulty is ideally balanced, challenging enough to keep me on edge without ever feeling unfair or frustrating. Finding secrets was extremely entertaining. Every hidden area felt like a genuine reward rather than a chore, and I found myself exploring every corner of each level just to see what I might discover. The monster models are masterfully made, and fighting them never gets old. The guns are unique too, each one feeling distinct in how it handles and how satisfying it is to use, which makes combat constantly fresh (except for the pistol, maybe, since the pistol is too weak, even when upgraded to max). I love how much love for OG DOOM was put into this game. The secrets with OG DOOM locations were such a thoughtful touch, and the ability to play those maps after unlocking them felt like respect for longtime fans and just a very cool thing. Amazing game, and I'm gonna come back to it a few times, 100%. 8.5+/10.
Maybe one of the single greatest FPS games released. DOOM follows in the footsteps of it's forefathers, defying FPS standards while also defining the bar for what makes a good shooter. DOOM will make you question everything about playing an FPS, there is no cover, no ADS, no regenerating health and no mercy. A nice change of pace, and a breath of fresh air every time I open it.
