Cool game if you're a Dragon Ball fan. After roughly 40 hours, the game starts to feel really repetitive if you don't do any online activities and since there aren't many players around anymore, or at least not many doing online content, don't expect any real online experience. All there is after completing the main story is to do a bunch of side quests again and again, and they pretty much all feel the same after a while. That's one of my main issues with the game. The PvE fights become really boring after the first few hours of excitement. You have to play a certain way, spamming your combos, and if you fail, the AI will spam its combos. That's pretty much it. Also, pray that your AI partners don't die before the end of the fight otherwise it can turn into a bullying simulator. That being said, what makes this game so cool is obviously creating your own character, evolving in the Dragon Ball universe alongside its characters, while choosing your fighting style, outfits, and techniques. Definitely wait for a discount, especially since there are so much DLCs.
The last patch for the final piece of DLC has massive problems, chief among them dropped frames that cause dropped/delayed inputs causing breaks in your combo chains and extra damage when attempting to evade/defend on occasion. It also apparently caused issues for some who use foreign language options. This is a fighting game with RPG mechanics and this is indefensible. This would be a negative review purely due to the patch causing issues, to say nothing from the obvious problems with the insane amount of paid DLC to get access to everything, which I was willing to overlook due to sunk cost, discounts, and being willing to be fleeced towards the end. Do NOT spend money on this until they fix all the problems they implemented with the most recent patch.
I played the beta back in 2016 on xbox and followed it until the very end. thanks for everything xenoverse 2.
