Empire: Total War is a turn-based strategy and real-time tactics video game developed by Creative Assembly and published by Sega. The fifth instalment in the Total War series, the game was released in 2009. The game, which focuses on the early modern period of the 18th century, was announced at the Leipzig Games Convention in August 2007. Feral Interactive released the game for OS X and Linux in 2014, and for Android and iOS in 2024.

Runs well on modern hardware.

I've owned Empire: Total War – Definitive Edition for years, and I still come back to it every now and then. There's just something satisfying about starting with a small nation and slowly building a powerful empire. Managing your economy, researching new technologies, expanding your territory, and fighting large-scale battles never gets old. The naval battles are still some of the best I've played in any strategy game. Every nation offers a different experience, so each campaign feels fresh enough to keep me interested. The game isn't perfect. The AI can be frustrating, diplomacy sometimes makes no sense, and there are still a few old bugs. The graphics have also aged, but once I'm a few hours into a campaign, I honestly don't care. Even after all these years, Empire remains one of my favorite Total War games. It has its flaws, but the gameplay keeps bringing me back. If you enjoy historical strategy games, this one is still well worth playing.
This game probbaly has the best ship battles of any Total War game.
Indian overpopulation makes the game crash.
