This is a great little puzzle-based tactical game with a very strong focus on narrative & writing. Its level design & atmosphere is really fantastic as well. Unlike Commandos or Desperados, Eriksholm's gameplay is less action-focused, but that works in its favor, in my opinion. The only drawback is that the game is too short - so get it when it's on sale.
Meh - that pretty much sums up my thoughts of this game. The graphics and reliability of play is great but the levels are repetitive from the beginning. There is no character development, it's just the same stealth escape for each puzzle and unfortunately it's further worsened by the lackluster story. Boring story. I've completed the game and feel that it isn't worth the money or the effort the developers put into the lovely graphics. Also 8 hours of game play for the price is ridiculous. I wouldn't even recommend this on sale. I regret this purchase.
I had never played an isometric topdown stealth game before this. Honestly, I can’t even remember why I added it to my wishlist in the first place, or why, out of the 150+ games sitting there, my friend picked this one to gift me for Christmas. Whatever the reason, I’m really glad things worked out the way they did because getting to play this turned out to be such a great experience. The world you move through feels incredibly detailed and lived in, and it was an absolute joy to explore. Every chapter introduced a new and interesting environment, and each one felt like the right length so nothing ever started to feel stale. Controlling different characters with their own abilities added small but meaningful changes to the gameplay that kept things feeling fresh. On top of that, the story kept me engaged and invested all the way through to the end. The characters themselves were interesting and wonderfully voice acted. Accents can sometimes be hard for me to follow, especially when diction gets muddy, but that wasn’t an issue here at all. I could clearly understand everything, even Sebastian’s thick accent. As for the stealth mechanics, I played the entire game using an Xbox controller and everything felt smooth and intuitive. Being new to this kind of game, there were definitely moments where I struggled to figure out what I was supposed to do. But by the final chapter, I found myself quickly reading situations and picking out the best path forward without much hesitation. Overall, this ended up being one of those games I never would have picked for myself but ended up loving anyway. This was a great introduction to the genre, and I'm really glad I gave it a chance.
