Had so much fun playing this short game. I only had a few glimpses of game screenshots prior to playing it and I have to say it's a great indie game with an impressive art direction. During my entire playtime and despite the gloomy undertones of the post-apocalyptic world, I couldn't shake off the idea that it looked like a beautifully realized canvas painting. The game is a simple vehicle side scroller with relatively easy puzzle challenges. The easiness of the game is never a turn off as as the meticulous design and placement of said puzzles do an excellent job of driving the journey forward. Throughout your playtime, you're constantly wondering what is happening in the world. The game doesn't tell you outright either but puts in enough details for you to make an inference. If you're on the lookout for a short, cozy experience, I strongly recommend this game. Score out of 5
★★★★
This will sound bizarre, but I almost wish this game was slower. The exact same amount of content, just... the okomotive is slower. Or things are more spread out... It's WAY too frenetic. You are constantly running from one thing to the next, constantly fixing things, constantly feeding the furnace, etc. I just want to start the engine and then hang out on top of the Okomotive. Instead, there is a puzzle or something to do literally nonstop. I feel like the game does itself a serious disservice. I got the game for 90% off and honestly, even then, it doesn't really feel worth it to me. I don't know. I guess I would have wished this was more of an art piece and dialed back the gameplay.
This game taught me to not take things for granted. Not a single word spoken in the game but the way environment told us the story and the location it's situated like it's end of everything which really stood out. Story telling was good and short I wish it could be longer but again that's not the problem cuz if the story is short but memorable then it's more than good. The puzzles are great and makes you think even when the answer is right in front of you. World building, art, animations and soundtracks is amazing. Now about the Engine there are many ways to refuel the tank and you can collect it on the way but there is one specific object which can refuel the tank to the max but at a cost of your engine which I won't tell you not gonna spoil it. I really liked the simple controls very easy to learn and you can speed-run it. Spoiler alert ending broke me as if fate was decided it was truly a "Lone Sails" after all. Game is worth it not boring at all fun to speed-run. 100% WORTH IT
