Final Fantasy IX

[h2]A Final Fantasy IX Retrospective[/h2] FFIX was always one of my favorites growing up and re-playing it now with the help of mods to bring the game up to modern standards, was an absolute 10/10 experience. With the Memoria Launcher and Moguri Mod, the game is essentially re-mastered and is highly recommended. Some mods I used alongside Moguri were: [i]Portraits Pack, 30fps videos, PlayStation Sounds, Kupo UI Suite, and Cursors Mod.[/i] All of these can be directly installed with a couple clicks from Memoria Launcher which makes it nice and easy. With 80+ hours of playtime I only had 3 crashes. And because I prefer to save often it wasn't a big deal. [b]Pro tip for playing with Memoria Launcher:[/b] In the Advanced Settings, turn "New Audio Engine" OFF. This setting will devour your RAM and CPU usage if left on. Nothing else to say really. [b][u][i] This game is a masterpiece.

I’am only really writing this review in desperate bid to try and get people to play this masterpiece of a game. 😂 But in all seriousness, I find this FF to be one of the most underrated in the series without a doubt - I feel a lot of people turn their nose up at it as at first glance it’s too ‘childish’ because of the animation style. Over the years when I have been asked/ or mentioned my favourite final fantasy is IX, i’am always met with raised eyebrows, a few times even told it was an ‘odd’ choice but I will never understand why. This game is absolutely beautiful, tragic, comedic, fun and yet serious all at once.The characters are all so loveable and I find it hard choosing my core 4 (yes, even Quina 🤣) the locations are stunning too and the OST?! Arguably the best in the franchise I mean the Burmecia theme and You’re not alone?! Probably my two favourites in the whole franchise. That’s all I gotta say, it’s so beautiful. Watching the characters develop and change as the story progresses is satisfying, especially Zidane and Vivi. The ending also makes me cry like a baby everytime, without giving anything away it truly tugged on the heartstrings. Please if you have debated playing this game give it a go. It’s on sale less than £5 now and I can promise you it’s way worth it. 🥰

This game is beautiful. The music The characters are all likeable The setting The dialogue The way the characters interact with each other The PS1 aesthetic... Everything was amazing Only downside is the combat but besides that this game is a must play. 9.5/10
