Final Fantasy IX is a 2000 role-playing video game developed and published by Square for the PlayStation video game console. It is the ninth game in the main Final Fantasy series. The plot focuses on a war between nations in a medieval fantasy world called Gaia. Players follow a thief named Zidane Tribal who kidnaps princess Garnet Til Alexandros XVII as part of a ploy by the neighboring nation of Lindblum. He joins Garnet and a growing cast of characters on a quest to take down her mother, Queen Brahne of Alexandria, who started the war.

Runs well on modern hardware.

My favorite Final Fantasy game and still my favorite game of all time. I make a new friend because of this game. I learn my English through this game. This game is important to me and I don't think any game will ever top FF9.
Easily my favorite game in the series out of the ones I’ve got the chance to play. Character driven to its core, FFIX is a game that stuck with me through its masterful use of its cast to communicate its message and themes, culminating in one of the most beautiful celebrations of life I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing in a work of art. Most of the gameplay quirks can be addressed through the boosters included in the port, though I'd still recommend playing the game with at least the Memoria launcher to truly customize the experience to your liking. FFIX is a charming and poignant experience that I think everyone should experience at least once, or at the very least give it a try, especially considering how accessible and inexpensive it is to play this game these days.
How do 2 polygons in a black mage hat have more personality than the main character of a modern AAA game?
I am glad I waited so long to play this game. Not only does it hold up - it puts modern game narratives to shame. Simultaneously whimsical and deep, this game has the confidence to not take itself too seriously, while delivering profound meaning (without trying to shove it down your throat). The musical score is unmatched, the characters and writing are unforgettable, and the themes are absolutely wholesome. Pure. I strongly recommend you play this game if you want an adventure that you sink into seamlessly - a journey that feels nostalgic before it even begins. All the game asks for is a little bit of your heart, and in return, you'll be left with fantasy friends that you remember for a lifetime. 10/10.
