Gothic 1 Remake is an upcoming action role-playing game developed by Alkimia Interactive and published by THQ Nordic. It is a remake of Piranha Bytes' 2001 video game of the same name. The game is planned to release for PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S on 5 June 2026.

Runs well on modern hardware.

In my opinion, the Gothic 1 remake is the highlight of 2026. While it was a groundbreaking game back then, the redesigned version is exactly the same today. The entire area has been beautifully reinterpreted in a modern style and a few new features also allow you to discover new places that didn't exist back then. All dialogues have also been voiced, and the atmosphere is truly captivating. A clear recommendation for all fans of the series, but also for newcomers.
never played the Original game, but this is one of the best open world games I played ever. hoping they remake the second game
Buggy as hell. Buggiest game I played in years. I'd say it is even worse than the average Bethesda release. I had several hard crashed when loading starting the game and loading a save. Faction flag bugged in Chapter 4. The game is jank as hell. Sometimes strikes miss on incredible stupid reasons. Sometimes after Dialouge the controls lock up. (super great when you get attacked right after the dialoque). When clearing the free Mine I had to reload because the Quest wouldn't update. Just to name a few. Releasing a game in 2026 (current year argument) like this doesn't fly. I really tried liking this game. But this is unacceptable. I played to much to refund this broken mess, so only course of action is to give this thumbs down and hope at least some potential buyer waits for fixed or a big sale, preferrably both.
