Gunfire Reborn is a 2021 roguelike first-person shooter video game developed by Duoyi Games. It was released for Microsoft Windows in November 2021. It was followed by mobile ports in May 2022, then released on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S in October of the same year, and released for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in June 2023. A Nintendo Switch port is also in the works.

Runs well on modern hardware.

Gunplay is fun and satisfying, hell just look at my playtime. Unfortunately: - Build variety kind of sucks. Pretty much every character has the exact same 3 builds (weapon, secondary skill, primary skill) with the only differences being what weapon type your character wants to use. After a while it gets VERY stale. Seasonal mechanics are basically identical to each other in terms of buffs and mechanics so the game has next to nothing to shake up the gameplay. - In-game text is very obviously machine translated. Lots of skill and item/scroll descriptions are borderline nonsensical, with inconsistent terminology and straight-up incorrect descriptions. There is also just a lot of entirely untranslated text that sneaks its way into the game every update. - DLC power creep is very much a thing. Paid characters are much, much better than base-game characters and it is almost impossible to lose a run with them, even on the highest difficulty. - Performance and other issues: game has been running worse and worse the longer it's out and this isn't being addressed at all - there has been at least one documented case of a player getting a virus partially due to the game pinging a domain the developers no longer have access to. (potential false-positive, but worth mentioning.) - UNDISCLOSED GENAI USAGE. GenAI is being used to create both promotional comics seen in the news updates for the game as well as for animated in-game emotes unlocked via the battle pass.
Gunfire Reborn is one of the best fps roguelites ive ever played. Hundreds of hours of content and builds. My only complaint is the updates. They basically just throw pocket lint at you once every 3 months, making you pay for dlc every 6. In my opinion the newer characters are just dont match up to orginal default characters that come with the game. In terms of the meta progression, you can max everything as soon as a new update drops so the only real new things you can do when an update hits is level up the 2 new characters(which is done with currency that wont even dent your pockets if you've played the game for more than 100 hours), try out the 3 changes to already existing weapons and the seasonal gimics that dont really effect the game that much. For a game that has more than 1 dev and millions of copies sold it really breaks my heart that i can go through a year's worth of updates in less than few hours. Compared to some other games that have 1 dev such as crab champions where every update (completely free btw) it basically changes and improves a lot of fundamental that can lead to more synergies and a lot more ways to play overall. Just to top it all off they dont even allow the coversation of mod support in their discord or steam forums. Like I said, very good game but as a long time fan, I really wish we could get more content out of the dlc's at least.
One of the few games I write a review on. This is easily in my top 10 games ever. Its colorful, simple, and too the point. The art style is charming, the characters are all cute, the guns are all fun to use. I hope this game keeps getting updated for a long time.
