Half-Life: Alyx is a 2020 virtual reality (VR) first-person shooter game developed and published by Valve. It was released for Windows on March 23, 2020, and for Linux on May 15, with support for most PC-compatible VR headsets. Players control Alyx Vance on a mission to seize a superweapon belonging to the alien Combine before the events of Half-Life 2 (2004). Like previous Half-Life games, Alyx incorporates combat, puzzles and exploration. Players use VR to interact with the environment and fight enemies, using "gravity gloves" to snatch objects from a distance, similarly to the gravity gun from Half-Life 2.

Runs well on modern hardware.

the best vr title out there. tons of details and phenomenal good gameplay
I think the only way I can describe this game is as the quintessential game for all VR headsets. If you know NOTHING about VR, don't know what games to play, don't understand its potential, and even if you've been playing VR for years with many more to come, you NEED to play this game. The graphics, world building, the acting, the story, the physics, the sound design, this game has everything a virtual reality game can and should offer to the consumer. I've never even played the Half Life series, and could still follow along easily. Admittedly, there were several key references in this game that would make a lot more sense if you have played/watched the previous titles, but it's not necessary to get the full experience. The fact that this game was released as early as it was into the VR market is truly amazing, and just goes to show that VR still has a long way to go... though we seem to already have a strong start. On that note, I yearn for the day Gabe can finally count up to 3... someday...
19 years I waited for another Half-Life. Played the entire campaign in one session. My legs were dying by hour 4 and I still couldn't stop. Every object in this game is interactable. Every single one. You can pick up anything, turn it over, throw it. Nothing phases through walls. Nothing clips. Your hands collide with surfaces properly. No other VR game does this. Six years later and nobody has even tried to match it. The Jeff chapter isn't horror, and personally, im glad they didn't try to force it with jumpscares, It's the most intricate spatial puzzle I've ever played in VR. I pulled off things I didn't think VR controllers could even track, lifting crates without knocking bottles over, catching falling objects mid-air before they hit the ground and gave away my position. Pure precision under pressure. Combat is peak but I wanted more Combine fights. Makes sense though, you're Alyx, not GORDON FREAKMAN in his HIV suit. You're supposed to feel outgunned. Then the ending happens.
You're him. You reach and grab the crowbar with your own hand.
After 19 years. In VR that isn't a cutscene. That's a moment you physically perform. I cried. This is the only VR game that is an actual game. Full campaign, real pacing, zero bugs, no jank. Everything else on this platform is a tech demo pretending to have a store page. 10/10. My legs still hurt.
