The game is collapsing. The devs have made their intentions VERY clear to break their promise in regards to no microtransactions I will quit this game until bugs are fixed and the devs wake up. The DLC is from past free updates form apple arcade. cash grab is disgusting
Writing this review breaks my heart. I loved Hello Kitty Island Adventure when it first came out, however, ever since Sunblink introduced its monetization statregy I cannot recommend the game. I'm sure you've read a bunch of other reviews stating that Apple Arcade players receive the content for free that PC players have to pay for. Maybe it was wrong of me and many other players to expect updates and not $25 DLC that Apple Arcade users get for free. Honestly speaking, I feel like this isn't just a problem with Hello Kitty Island Adventure but how the games industry treats girl-centric-gaming in general. Look at similar games that are marketed towards girls. Many of them have egregious prices and egregious dlc on top of the egregiously priced based game. Looking at you, Sims and Disney Dreamlight Valley. As much fun as I had playing the game and being hopeful that PC users would receive the same updates Apple Arcade received for free, that's not the case and while I'm disappointed, I can put a game down and stop playing. I cannot support these practices and enabling the studio to do so will signal to them that they can keep taking advantage of us and $25 with barebones content worth of DLC is completely fine.
Like others have said, I can't recommend the game anymore. I don't usually write reviews but as I've put 200+ hours into the game it saddens me to see the direction Sunblink has gone with the game recently and I have no plans on getting the DLC or any paid content in the future, especially knowing the use of AI for translations raises concern for me about what Sunblink will do in the future, sure they aren't using genAI for models and stuff now, but I fear if they get away with it with translations, they'll try to use more AI in development later. I hope this isn't the fate of the game and things do change soon, but as things stand currently, I will not be playing the game anymore and have uninstalled.
