Her Story is the new video game from Sam Barlow, creator of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories and Aisle. A crime fiction game with non-linear storytelling, Her Story revolves around a police database full of live action video footage. It stars Viva Seifert, actress and one half of the band Joe Gideon and the Shark.

Runs well on modern hardware.

It's been almost three years since I played this game and "OOOOHhhhh the DREADFUL WIND and rain" is still stuck in my head. Not sure if that's a positive or negative review-- but it certainly left a lasting impression.
Overall, I had a good time, but the game design is lacking. Unveiling the story was entertaining, and I think the actress did a great job. However, the game mechanic for unlocking content is not well-designed. Unlike games such as The Roottrees Are Dead, where you really need to exercise your powers of deduction to come up with meaningful prompts or search terms, Her Story only has a limited number of entries you can retrieve that way. Instead, if you're a completionist, you'll find yourself stuck typing common English words in the hopes of hitting a one-second entry. The ending was also very underwhelming; it didn't require any proof that you had actually understood the story.
Interesting concept, especially at the beginning I was really interested in seeing how the story would develop. Sadly though, I was a bit disappointed by the ending because there isn’t really a proper conclusion. I know that’s intentional since you’re supposed to piece everything together yourself through the interviews, but I still think a final tape or something similar would’ve made the whole thing feel more satisfying. After watching all the interviews I was honestly kinda disappointed by the result. The gameplay is super basic, which is completely fine since it mainly exists to tell the story, but because the story never really concludes properly, it leaves you with a pretty unsatisfying feeling at the end.
