Katana Zero is a 2019 platform game developed by American indie studio Askiisoft and published by Devolver Digital. Set in a dystopian metropolis, the neo-noir storyline follows Subject Zero, a katana-wielding assassin with amnesia who can slow down time and predict the future. Zero unravels his past while completing assassination contracts. Katana Zero features side-scrolling hack-and-slash gameplay in which the player attempts to kill all enemies in a level without being hit, using Zero's abilities to manipulate time, dodge attacks, and take advantage of environmental hazards. In between levels, the story is told in sequences where the player converses with non-player characters through dialogue trees.

Runs well on modern hardware.

I grew up with no console or computer, so before this, I mostly just played random games on mobile, and cracked minecraft. In 2020 during the covid pandemic, I need a computer for online classes, so my dad got me an old laptop running on window 8, I think it only had around 3gb ram. I'm using it then I found a website that let you download many games for free, then somehow this game catch my eye, so I just downloaded and try it, at first it got me surprised because it ran very smoothly, I thought that potato can not even run it. At that time my english wasn't very good, and I'm not thinking too much when playing it, but somehow I understand the story, the dialogue, and what the game was trying to tell me, that was the first time I had ever experienced storytelling in a video game, also the gameplay was one of the coolest thing I've ever seen, I played it for like 2 weeks because I kept dying ( I was really bad back then) And now I finally got the chance to buy the game and play it legitimately, just finishing it, the game shorter then I remember, something similar something different, idk because I've forgot or new thing get added or I chose different route ( there's a thing that I remember, during the final conversation with the Psychiatrist, back then I made he kill himself with a gun, but this time I kill him with with a paper weight) Anyway thank for making this game, this game will always have a place in my heart, still looking forward for the sequel.
Smooth and fun gameplay. Memorable art style. Short, but good for replays. Runs on my potato laptop. Choices in the game are consequential, but they affect only minor occurrences but not the overall fate of the main characters. The plot and and the dialogue intertwine to create a believable and fascinating Cyberpunk world, but don't get your hopes high for the ending because it is a cliffhanger of which the completion depends on a DLC that people have been waiting for years.
pretty nice short game, a good story, pretty badass effects, i really like the glitches, achievements arent that terrible to get (tho i dont think ill get the last 2) unfortunately seems to end in a ''to be continued'' cliffhanger and its been 7 years lol, who knows maybe we get a sequel one day, gameplay is ok, the story is the main deal imo
