Kena: Bridge of Spirits is a 2021 action-adventure video game developed and published by Ember Lab. The story follows Kena, a young spirit guide who uses her magical abilities to help deceased people move from the physical to the spirit world. The game is presented through a third-person perspective. The player uses Kena's staff for attacking enemies, and her pulse ability for defending against attacks. They are tasked with collecting small spirit companions known as the Rot, who help to complete tasks and battle against enemies.

Runs well on modern hardware.

I have a love/hate relationship with Kena. It has a great story, breathtaking graphic design, and both humor and challenge. The problem is I am 65 with arthritis and my hands tremble sometimes. I have to play this game on Story Mode or I'm continuously back flipping off cliffs and can't get my speed up during timed challenges, and boss fights can only be managed on lower difficulty. This is NOT the fault of the game, The problem is getting old sucks! Five stars to Kena!!!!!!!!!!!
im really struggling to enjoy the game. so lets start with the good parts. its really cute, the graphics and music is beautiful and i love the quality of the cutscenes. but i hate the lack of orientation, im struggling deeply with the maze like mapping and have had to look for walkthroughs just so i dont keep running in circles. and even with all the headless chicken running im not even happening across rot or meditation spots etc. im not inexperienced in rpgs either, so the fact im fighting for my life on a medium difficulty in combat is also a hard pass. the first major boss had zero pattern, too fast to shoot with even an arrow let alone catch up to bonk, even on storymode...bro just kept running around in circles 100m away and then backflipped away as soon as i got close... i dont think the beauty of the art is enough for me to bother any further gameplay, its unfortunate as it runs wonderfully on the steamdeck, but hey whatever not every pretty game will succeed in gameplay
Gameplay and combat is pretty satisfying. Very nice colors. Better than all those washed out looking modern RPGs.
