Kena: Bridge of Spirits is a 2021 action-adventure video game developed and published by Ember Lab. The story follows Kena, a young spirit guide who uses her magical abilities to help deceased people move from the physical to the spirit world. The game is presented through a third-person perspective. The player uses Kena's staff for attacking enemies, and her pulse ability for defending against attacks. They are tasked with collecting small spirit companions known as the Rot, who help to complete tasks and battle against enemies.

Runs well on modern hardware.

It's a game, looks really nice. Some weird stuttering once in a while. Parry Timing is awful, I just brute forced the whole thing with Shield and Dodge on Master. Maybe just don't play it on Master tho.
This is a very fun and relaxing game... till you get bonked on the head by an axe-wielding twig who just halved your health bar. I played my first playthrough of this on Master difficulty, completely oblivious to how challenging this game can be, and it was definitely a rough time at first. It's a beautiful game, complemented by its fantastic art style and the music is another great feature i found myself paying attention to ( despite being a person who tends to not focus that much on music ). The combat is surprisingly difficult but unlocking each new ability and mastering it felt quite rewarding. I did find the parry timing a bit tight compared to other games I've played but it didn't take that long to adjust. I do think parrying could be a bit smoother and forgiving though. The story segments were nice and I wish we got more of Kena and some more depth to her character but I was quite happy with all the bosses and the buildup to them. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the game and had a great time seeing it through to the end.
9/10 | Mesmerising | Engaging | Gorgeous. Kena: Bridge Of Spirits dates back to 2021 originally on PS4 and then later expanding to Steam & other platforms. This game is an absolute journey from start to finish. An incredibly well told story with the quirky fun of a typical adventure game with charm. It features beyond adorable creatures called 'The Rot' which are the cutest darn things you'll ever see aside from Studio Ghibli related designs & the combat is fluid and feels fun with a range of difficulty options making it either more simplified or more challenging depending on your playlist. The game runs smooth, looks phenomenal & the sound/art design is unreal. Genuinely feels like you're playing a movie. I cannot recommend this game enough, especially if you've never heard of OR seen it before. It's well worth the full price but it does go on sale and is worth a purchase either way. Couldn't recommend this enough. Grab it. Play it. Have fun with it. <3
