Kingdom Rush is a 2011 tower defense game developed by Ironhide Game Studio and published by Armor Games. In the game's medieval fantasy setting, players take control of a general serving under King Denas of Linirea, who must defend the land from an onslaught of evil monsters. Each level is composed of a number of pre-set roads, which the player can place defensive towers around to fight off the approaching monsters. Slaying enemies gives the player gold, which they can use to buy new towers or upgrade existing ones to improve their capabilities.

Runs well on modern hardware.

Kingdom Rush is where the entire franchise began, and even today it stands as one of the most polished and influential tower defense games ever made. Ironhide Game Studio created something that not only defined the series, but also set a benchmark for the entire genre. At its core, the gameplay is simple but deeply strategic. Players build and upgrade four main tower types—archers, barracks, artillery, and mages—each with distinct strengths and weaknesses. The real depth comes from how these towers interact with enemy waves, terrain, and timing. Every decision matters, and even small mistakes can change the outcome of a stage. The hero system adds another layer of strategy. Instead of static defenses, heroes move across the battlefield, support choke points, and provide active abilities that can turn the tide of difficult waves. This makes each level feel more dynamic compared to traditional tower defense games. On the story side, Kingdom Rush introduces the foundation of the entire universe. The kingdom of Linirea is under constant threat from dark forces, with King Denas leading the defense against rising chaos. At the center of this conflict is Vez’nan, whose descent into corruption becomes one of the defining elements of the series. Later lore ties his transformation further to events involving the Tear of Elynie, expanding his role as one of the most important figures in the Kingdom Rush universe. What makes the game especially important in hindsight is how much it establishes for later entries. Everything from heroes, factions, tone, and worldbuilding begins here, eventually leading into expanded stories like Frontiers, Origins, Vengeance, and Alliance. Even years later, Kingdom Rush still feels tight, balanced, and extremely satisfying to play. It’s not just the beginning of a series—it’s the foundation of an entire universe. 10/10 — A timeless tower defense classic that started it all.
It seems to be that i got really lucky with this one, thx for the person who has purchased it for me without asking anything in return as much as not being so cheap, although game costs pretty much NOTHING! ) But the gameplay itself is freaking good starting from soundtracks to different type of locations that are out there. I used to be playing in this game back when i was a kid, it never really crossed my mind that it could be purchased here on Steam (I wouldn't have believed, if you'd told me that.) SO QUICK recap: BEST TOWER Defense type of the game i know and i wish everybody knew such an amazing and an incredible game, definitely worth its cost. Will probably gather all of the Kingdom Rush tower defense games as i finish playing in this one, Bye. Goodluck warrior! Stay relentless and may the odds be in your favor. (i hope you've got the reference, huh) FOR HONOR AND GLORY.
