Lumines Arise is a 2025 puzzle video game developed by Enhance Games and Monstars Inc. and published by Enhance Games for PlayStation 5 and Windows. It is a falling block puzzle game where 2x2 blocks of different colors fall down to the floor and creating 2x2 colored squares of the same color or greater allows the timeline to clear the colored squares from left to right in sync with the song’s BPM. Each stage has unique block colors and textures, backgrounds, visual effects, sound effects, and a unique song to go with it.

Runs well on modern hardware.

- WHY is the size of the upcoming blocks so small compared to previous versions? - WHY does muting the music in Time Attack still cause crazy blaring car alarm sounds? I just want to clearly see the upcoming blocks in Time Attack with some simple sounds. Insane how they can't get the basics right for long term players after making 10+ versions of the game. Also, there is NO MULTIPLAYER because literally no one is playing the game at this point. 9 players right now on SteamDB. Gee, I wonder why...
I'm not a fan of these puzzle game, preferring tetris by far, but what these developers have done in honing their trance like states with visuals and timing is still remarkable and worth the purchase price.
Game isn't bad but it's not a game I'd recommend at full price or over Lumines Remastered. My biggest gripe are the horribly long transitions between songs and the songs themselves aren't that great. The game is more focused on trying to throw loads of visual eye candy and special effects that everything else suffers. The new Burst mechanic is a nice addition but it's not enough to sell the game. Song transitions have always been quick, smooth, and doesn't break the gameplay. But here, the transitions are long and clunky just to show off while you have to wait to start placing blocks again. Graphically the game is beautiful but there's also so much nonsense going on the screen at times, it's distracting. At the very least, there's accessibility options that help declutter the screen with effects and a lot of the clutter happening while playing. There's also a lack of extra modes. No Endless Shuffle or Vs. mode so folks hoping to play to your heart's content until you can't or run through the CPU, this game doesn't offer it. (I'm guessing they axed the Vs. CPU in order to push the online vs. features) I haven't tried the multiplayer but I don't have any interest in this game. I don't think this series has been able to capture what made it so great and lovable since the first 2 games. Arise isn't bad, but it's not something I'd recommend when Lumines Remaster has it all and some.
