A PvP-focused extraction shooter set on the mysterious planet of Tau Ceti IV, Marathon will see players inhabit the bodies of Runners, cybernetic mercenaries who have been designed to survive the planet’s harsh environments and explore the lost colony that once inhabited Tau Ceti’s surface. Players will engage solo or in crews of three, searching for mysterious alien artifacts, as well as for valuable loot and new weapons and gear that they can add to their collection.

Runs well on modern hardware.

Yes and No. I do agree, this game is very well made, it has moments where gives you a rush that most pvp shooters wouldn't however at the end of the day, it is an extraction shooter. These days people have less and less time to play games and if you just come on to lose and lose all day it just lowers the motivation to keep going. The highs on this game are really high, but the lows are really low. As far as the gunplay and gameplay goes, amazing. The weapons are all very unique, they all are useful in a way. The graphics are nice, the world is beautiful. The character design is unique as well and has for sure grown on me. The main issue with this game is, how are they going to bridge the gap between those who are hardcore and casual. You absolutely need friends to play this game as well. The fill lobbys are hell and you get put into lobby of squads who are coordinated. Most of the fills I play have one or two people who don't communicate, it just makes it all a helish experience sometimes. Despite going in with my best gear on fills, my chances of losing it are about a 70%. I do have a lot of critsisim for this game, however I love it. If you played it, it hits a spot like no other game has in a while right? Its amazing. Once you understand the game, it's lovely. That's really all I have to say.
The stages of suffering in Marathon: Joy - You're happy to just play and explore a new game. Fear - You start making some progress but never use your new items because you might lose them. Apathy - You realize there is no point hoarding gear and start using your best stuff, without caring if you lose it. Anger - Even though you use your best items, you still die constantly. Despair - You realize you will never be good. And after all that you still want to play one more match.
It’s fun but find it difficult to keep up with the other players who I get paired up against. I can’t sink a full time job into this game. Other than that, it runs amazingly, the setting and art style is some of of the best out there right now. I recommend for a die hard player looking for a tough fps challenge.
