What's Nekopara? Why, it's a cat paradise! Kashou Minaduki, the son of a long line of Japanese confection makers moved out to open his own shop "La Soleil" as a patisserie.

Runs well on modern hardware.

🐈🐾💗 NEKOPARA VOL. 1 IS A BEGINNING TO A JOURNEY EVERY CATGIRL LOVER SHOULD EXPERIENCE! -I've been a big fan of Sayori's work and the NEKOPARA game/Anime adaptation since I discovered the project and it's origins years back off-Steam. After buying the games on Steam to support the cause and once again take my time to enjoy each volume, I figured it would be agreat idea to write a review. This review comes from the heart, and hope it reaches yours. I will not be reviewing the next games, considering to me they are all equal masterpieces. The review will cover all volumes in my perspective, even if no spoilers or content from the next games will be mentioned. This said, let's break it all in a way it's easy to understand: STORY: The plot puts you in the shoes of the protagonist Kashou, who finds two kittens in a box abandoned in the streets, takes them in, and accepts them as part of the family. They are the closest to him, even if he and his sister have raised the next six Catgirls. Over time a cliche slice of life story turns into something bigger, interesting, and wholesome once the rest of the characters arrive. Of course, volume 1 is mainly dedicated and projects the story between Kashou, Chocola, and Vanilla. And how they aim to support him both as partners and employees on his bakery Patisserie La Soleil. There will be romance, comedy, Catgirls, and feels. Volume 1 is pretty basic, but if you like it and each of the Catgirls then you'll love the following games. GAMEPLAY: NEKOPARA is a kinetic linear game series which feature no choices and or branching paths. It's a start to finish enjoyable experience without having to choose the direction and outcomes, or having to experience multiple endings. So if you're fast readers like me, you should sit back, relax, and turn on automatic mode in order to enjoy everything comfortably. INCREIDIBLE VOICE ACTING AND ANIMATION: I find Sayori's work to feature the very best of the best when it comes to the work of professional voice actresses in visual novels. Each game is fully voiced by IRL VAs, and all characters sound and feel exactly as they should according to their personalities. I also want to mention, their voice acting in the adult content (will get to that below) is peak. This VN also features live animation in basically all scenes and chapters, giving life to all Catgirls, their expressions, moods, and vibes. This is one of those games/VNs where both the animation and voice acting combine to produce a work of art that says more than it intends to. So try to enjoy it at a low pace, to get the best out of it all. CATGIRL PARADISE: While this may feel like a spoiler of sorts, I want to talk about each Catgirl in order to prepare you all for what's to come here and on. Just describing each one, in hopes you all find your Waifu before you meet her. I'll just copy and paste stuff, since it's easier to resume: Chocola (second fave): A cheerful, energetic, and straightforward catgirl with a dog-like, highly affectionate personality. She acts before she thinks, is easily excited, and deeply loves her master, Kashou. Vanilla: Chocola's twin sister and complete opposite. She is quiet, reserved, calm, and speaks in a monotone voice, though she is secretly very smart with sharp, dry wit and remarkable insights. Azuki: The oldest of the Minaduki catgirls. She is sharp-tongued, sassy, and acts like a cynical older sister, but she is surprisingly responsible and cares deeply about the others despite her teasing nature. Coconut (top fave): The tallest and one of the younger catgirls, yet she struggles with a lack of self-confidence despite her impressive physical stature. She is clumsy, very earnest, gentle, and loyal. Maple (third fave): Proud, dignified, and prideful. She tries to act very mature and classy, but she can be stubborn, secretly fears modern things (like the dark or ghosts), and has musical aspirations. Cinnamon: Affectionate, imaginative, and notoriously air-headed or prone to interpreting everyday situations and comments in a playful or overtly suggestive/lewd manner NOTE: There are other characters left to mention after volume 1, but as always play the games and find out! NSFW CONTENT: Yes, there is sex. With catgirls. Fully-partially animated and fully voiced. With moans. And sticky stuff. While you all have your doubts regarding sexual content being featured in such a wholesome game about Catgirls living their life with their owner, I want to make some things clear for you all. First of all, while it is not a need to buy the NSFW DLC and apply it, I recommend doing so in order to experience the game as intended and show Sayori the respect she deserved for her efforts. Applying this patch mainly adds not only casual CGs but also bonus mini-scene segments both at the start and finish, which eventually connects everything with the chapter featured. Why do I recommend it? Simple. The adult content shows the true affectionate side of each Catgirl and how they confess their feelings in heat for Kashou. The only way to see each of their spicy personalities and true colors is to experience the dirty material. I want to mention that folklorewise the act of mating between the Human species and Kemonomimis is common. They are Humanoids that share both Human and animal personality and traits, and most species carry the same DNA so it's possible. In fact, if we talk about the current generation, most Kemonomimis were born from bonding with humans mythologically speaking. Some copy and paste here for everyone: Traditional Japanese folklore features kitsune (fox spirits) and bakeneko (cat spirits) that frequently take on human-like forms with partial animal features. These spirits regularly marry, interact with, or have romantic relationships with human mortals in classic Japanese tales (such as the legend of Kuzunoha, a fox-wife who gives birth to a human child, Abe no Seimei). -So yeah, you might be thinking "How can bro bang his own cats?" but this has been happening for centuries. And besides, asides the NEKOPARA Catgirls, there are actual normal felines and canines in this universe. So no, Kashou is not mating with actual animals. Kemonomimis are not Furries. Just GOOGLE it. Lastly I want to mention something of huge importance here, for all those based haters who diss on games just because they feature explicit adult content. While an Eroge, this is not the usual dating SIM or Hentai series. And the protagonist is not the usual vile predator or lucky bastard who takes advantage of the situation and blessings. As you progress through the games you will come to realize what type of man Kashou trully is. He is kind, honest, noble, has values, morals, and does not force anyone to anything. As the owner of various Catgirls, eventually he will find himself accepting and corresponding to each of their feelings, in order to nurture the bonds and not hurt them emotionally. At first he doubts such acts , considering he actually saw his catgirls as sisters or daughters. But it was the Catgirls themselves who awakened his inner animal. After a while he grew comfortable to this, and the Harem started growing. Compared to most Eroges, here it's the girls who actually come to him. Kashou never bothered to confess nor fell in love with any of them in the first place, he just welcomed their feelings with open arms. He treats all catgirls as family, fresh partners, takes in consideration their needs, respects and protects them. He is not the guy you would expect in Eroges, nor does he act like one. So give the guy and his Catgirls a chance and experience the game in it's entirety. 🐱 I could really keep going, but the review is at it's limit sadly. There is a lot to be said about Sayori's deep dark story as an artist and her project, but you guys investigate on your side. Hope this is enough info for you all, and hope you play the game both as a slice of life experience and Eroge.
I'm kinda mixed on multiple categories but the 18+ dlc saved it from a negative review., my review of the dlc will be on the dlc alone, not mixed in this one for the base "game"
Base game review
The good: - The character designs are interesting. - The physical interactions are varied and frequent. - For JP learners, it shouldn't be too hard to read the original texts, and can have EN subtitle at the same time, but it is adapted, not literal translation. - Colorful and cheerful - Good voice actors The bad - The writing is definitely a mixedbag, sometimes it looks like it's going somewhere, but then it shuts off that direction, then there's the pacing, sometimes it takes awhile to progress, then it progress a lot, the pacing is inconsistant. - There are questionable perspectives at times, almost makes you wonder of the mental health of the individual. - Most transitions (like mini chapter changes) barely shows or say anything, these transitions are basically "cute filler", which kinda fails at being cute at times, especially with the text(s) that comes with it. - Cut 18+ content that changes the plot considerably without the 18+ patch - The volume focuses strongly on 4 characters, the protagonist, his younger sister and Chocola and Vanilla, it definitely could have done like Vol.0 to include some of the other characters. edit after completing the whole serie: Vol.4 < Vol.1 < EXTRA < Vol.0 < Vol.2 < Vol.3

Note : ★★★★☆
