Great cast and acting, and the actual video mixing is a blast. Too bad it’s all wrapped around a smug centrist take where you’re the idiot (the actual player not your cleaner turned broadcast controller character) for believing anything. I can’t stress that enough, the story is a both-sides satire so desperate to look clever that it gaslights you as the game bends over backwards to make you feel like an idiot no matter what you do. Outside of the story, BTW this is a story heavy game, the actual gameplay drowns you in so much busywork that you miss the dialogue, then you’re forced to re-watch 10 minutes of clips you mostly already saw or heard in a different menu. (While there is a fast-forward option, they pitch the audio so you can barely understand it unless you play it at 1x speed, and there are usually multiple different clips going at the same time. So, goody, time to pad out that playtime unless you’re okay with just not actually understanding the game.) Between the broadcasts there’s this really terrible “life-sim” that only reason to exist is to just make your life worse and punishing you for not following a steam guide and is just a slog to go through. Honestly, it’s so cheap looking compared to the rest of the game that it feels slapped together at the last minute with no budget, and it shouldn’t have been in the game; there could’ve been other ways to show the effects without bringing the game to a screeching halt. I can’t imagine trying to do multiple playthroughs as playing it once is already miserable sans a few moments when you do nothing and can enjoy some banter. The acting and such as I mentioned is amazing so really just watch the broadcast clips on YouTube and enjoy yourself.
- Hilarious storyline. I liked the satirical tone of the narrative, while talking about serious topics. - Game mechanics are simple, clear but not always easy in execution, since you have several ongoing ones. - So the game is great from both story and gameplay perspectives.
as someone thats worked in television for more then 20 years I find the cursing and crippling debt to be spot on. defiantly enjoying this game so far.
