Nuclear Throne is a bullet hell roguelike video game developed by Vlambeer. Set in a post-apocalypse, players are tasked with killing enemies by using various weapons and characters' special abilities to progress through levels and eventually reach the titular Nuclear Throne. The game is widely known for its steep difficulty curve and fast-paced gameplay. Early prototypes of the game were distributed through Steam's early access program in 2013. Nuclear Throne was released for Linux, Microsoft Windows, OS X, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita in December 2015, for Nintendo Switch in March 2019, and for Xbox One in September 2021.

Runs well on modern hardware.

Do you hate yourself? Do you want to play a game that will cause you to ragequit it everytime you die? Do you like shooting and hiting everything you see? Do you like walking crystals, robots, and funny fish? Welcome aboard, buddy. )
As an OG roguelike, Nuclear Throne is by no means easy, but it's a lot of fun. Packed with characters, weapons, and replay value in the form of Looping, it's sure to give you a great challenge.
I only played this game for a bit because I need a controller to really be any good at it, however I am gonna give this game my endorsement because the developer is pretty cool. I recently started investigating making video games myself and naturally came across Gamemaker, which was used to make this game. I decided to reach out to Vlambeer and ask some questions about the program and how they liked using it. I got a response the very next day from the big boss himself, he answered all my questions and was very polite. So, point to Team Vlambeer. Give this game a try. It's cheap, the setting is fun, the guns go boom and there appears to be a skill based special move for every charater that I'm sure would be pretty deadly in the hands of better players.
