Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus

I played the original game back in the time and then couple of years ago I discovered that was a remake from that version and I loved it! now I just played this sequel in order to keep up with the story to play the newest one which is soulstorm, it turns out really interesting how they used new mechanics for clearing levels, I loved it and tried to rescue most of them but sadly I'll never know why there still so many left

This game holds all of the charm and vibes of the original and is definitely longer with more fleshed out mechanics and ideas. The artstyle especially is undeniable and those pre-rendered backgrounds remain stunning. There's some good stuff here but I think the original ultimately feels tighter. I'm not sure if it's just me but this game marks the moment my appreciation for Oddworld falters themetically. Between some questionable voice acting and jokes that are decidedly just not very funny, Exoddus has imo betrayed the more serious themes of the original for a more cartoonish version of itself and Oddworld has never really appealed to me ever since. It's a good game though and I recommend playing it for the puzzles.

This is a childhood cult classic of mine, I still own my physical copy of this game and oddysee, even though I view it through rose tinted glasses it's a very solid and fun platformer with lots of stealth and strategy, it's a long game too boot originally having 2 discs, I love the world setting, the voice acting, the characters, just about everything, and still too this day the graphics hold up because they in a way painted over the environments leaving the backrounds and everything still absolutely amazing too look at, I revisit this game every few years because I'll never get enough of it, it's difficult, it's dark and comedic, and I can never get enough of it.
