Got the game years ago, didn't touch it but heard good things. The only good things I can say about this game is that the art direction is nice but the game design leaves a lot to be desired. Setting check points require energy which also allows you to do damage or break open paths in the world, but since the game tends to starve you from energy replenishments you'll find youself backtracking because you accidentally saved instead of opening up an area... There are multiple small frustrations related to the mechanics and inprecise controlls that cause you to die for nothing but a unresponsive action and poorly telegraphed hitboxes. Worst of all are the escape sequences, they are very long and intense sequences requiring precise game play, good RNG for mobs to spawn or shoot at you so you can use them to open up blocking areas and best of all, they don't have check points so if you make a mistake you have to start from scratch. The controlls are not precise enough for this to be enjoyable in my oppinion, I think there are 3 of these sequences in the game, I'm at the second one now and just quit the game in frustration. I don't think I will finish this game, it's not enjoyable at all for me and I'm usually game for metroid vania games. It's a pretty game with a compelling story but that's not enough hooked this time.
the game is really good, the platforming and combat feel good and the visuals look nice. The only problem i have is that sometimes the game prioritises visuals over readability.
Absolutely beautiful platformer with music that stays with you for years
