Otxo is a 2023 top-down shooter game developed by Lateralis Heavy Industries and published by Super Rare Originals. The game follows an unnamed protagonist as he traverses through a supernatural mansion with randomly-generated floors, killing all enemies inside as he searches for his long lost lover, who is trapped inside the mansion. The player is able to use a variety of weapons and abilities against the enemies, of which a main ability is known as "Focus", a meter that allows the player to manipulate and slow down time to their advantage in combat. Around a hundred extra performance-enhancing abilities are obtainable via numerous beverages that the player is able to purchase at a bar. It is presented in a black-and-white art style, with the exception of red being used to represent blood and gunfire.

Runs well on modern hardware.

It's roguelite Hotline Miami. If that's what you're looking for, here it is. My main criticism is that the accuracy and reaction time of enemies are pretty overtuned, seemingly to justify the superfluous bullet time mechanic that is almost-always available to the player. The presence of a health bar also just feels like a bandaid solution to how unavoidable damage is, especially given its size and the fact it fully replenishes at the start of each floor. I get that they're trying to adapt the lethality of Hotline Miami to the roguelite loop but I feel as though a more elegant solution would simply be to make the enemies more reasonable rather than give the player these compensations. The base power of the player also makes the upgrades pretty underwhelming. That being said, the game is still pretty fun.
If you liked Hotline Miami, you're gonna love this game. It takes the core gameplay of Hotline Miami and kicks it up a notch with the speed, and now you also have a health bar, as opposed to dying in one hit.
among all the hotline miami inspired games OXTO stands alone in a league of it's own it's not just good it's better than hm in some aspects the soundtrack is all bangers too few dozen more hours played on green steam can't recommend enogh
