First and foremost: REPLACED is a great game! Stunning visuals, excellent combat system (yes, I loved it, yes, it was fun, and no, it didn't get boring), nice variety, and phenomenal audio. The characters are incredibly memorable, too. The last chapter is the only thing that drops the ball a bit. But honestly, for this price and for a debut title, it's a fantastic experience that deserves a positive rating. All those people writing endless rants about its flaws are completely out of their minds. P.S. Really great on Deck.
honestly first of all i was expecting this game to be so repetitive after a while. but man i was wrong, replaced suprised me big time. the game is so diverse and has tons of cool ideas, even though its simple but it gives u real fun. ngl its been a hot min since i enjoyed a game from this genre. a game thats simple but hooks u with its beautiful world, amazing plot twist, and those mysterious characters. and imagine all of this in a 2.5d game! the pixel art and that cyberpunk vibe is just insane, and the combat feels heavy and tight even with simple controls. if u havent played it yet u should def check it out.
Replaced is truly a gem of the indie space. I love this game so much i had to give it a review before i was even finished. I am nearing the end of the so lets discuss it. Graphics: This game nails its art style. It brings about an amazing atmosphere that you are drawn into from the moment you start playing. I love the pixelated style, that is more pixelated with models and less so with enviornments. Regardless it all comes together really well with great ambient lighting, dark gritty areas and fun sci-fi storytelling. Music: This games music is incredible. It has low interesting ambience during the traversal of the levels and then once combat hits, it brings about a solid 80s synth style track that dam near flows with the music. Music has to be one of the best parts of this game by far. Story: This game has a interesting story about a sci-fi dystopian future powered by A.I. The A.I slowly becomes aware and becomes nearly human as it tries to understand the emotions of its host. It's all very interesting. Not to mention political corruption all throughout, multiple factions trying to control and take power. It's great. Gameplay: The gameplay in this game is simple, but solid. You continue to unlock new abilities all throughout the game slowly but surely giving you just enough complexity without feeling overwhelming. Combos feels arkham style combat with parries and dodges and a simple heal system. The boss battles are few but fun with multiple phases each boss. Overall solid. Cons: The game can have moments of what feels to be input lag. I realized theres moments where i am 100% parrying, timing it perfectly, doing no other action and yet it wont trigger. There seems to be a 1 second weird pre timer where you actually have to do an action 1 second before you actually have to do it to trigger a effect. Its really hard to explain. It didnt diminish the experience for me but i feel its there in the combat. I also wish there was slightly more combat opportunities, it seems really spread out. Overall i highly recommend this game to anyone looking for a classic style video game who loves sci-fi adventures. You can see my full playthrough on my YT channel Hypnotic Gaming Live.
