Described as a "pop album video game", Sayonara Wild Hearts follows the story of a heartbroken young woman through a surrealistic landscape. Each level of the game is set to a song, with the player guiding the woman while collecting hearts, avoiding obstacles, and fighting enemies. The game was released for iOS, macOS and tvOS through Apple Arcade, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 in September 2019, for Windows in December 2019, for Xbox One in February 2020, and for PlayStation 5 in February 2025. Runs well on modern hardware.

It's a pop music video album that honors the sadness of all relationships, but specifically sapphic ones, coming to an end. You're racing motorcycles as tears come to your eyes as you think about all the times you were with someone and while you were still together, you knew it was over and you were about to be alone again and you knew it would last forever. I recently played this again after first relationship fell apart and it helped give me process all my lingering emotions. Someone online said "sayonara" more properly translates to "That's the way it is" i n Japanese. If that's the case the title perfectly encapsulates this game. Heartbreak is part of life, but Wild Hearts like ours go on.
Basically a playable music album with super stylish Audiosurf-like gameplay. Would recommend if you vibe with the music
It's a great game with great music and an interesting visual style. It's short enough if you're determined to just go through the story from start to finish. And with a nice challenge, if you aim to knock out all the achievements.
