Much like dark eldritch gods, this game consumed my nights, my days and my mind in exchange for granting me the nefarious power of playing as a stick figure in the 1920s.
I loved WoL, and this game hits many of the same notes that I enjoyed from the first game, while adding a ton of replayability. When I finished my first playthrough, I had only unlocked 3 of the nearly 40 achievements, so its nice to know that for $20-ish, you're getting a good bit of fun and entertaining content. I will say though, I was a bit let down by the pacing of the ending. It seems like the pacing was pretty good through parts 1-4, but the game just kind of tries to race to the end in parts 5-6. Other than that, I enjoyed my time. Rating: 8/10.
Fantastic game, worthy of all of the praise it gets many times over! - Clever and funny writing - Character development and depth (NPCs you care about and you making your own story) - Simple but engaging combat and stat systems - Well thought out fun puzzles - Loads of rewarding secrets I thought I was being thorough in my first full 25hr playthrough, but I only got 10/37 achievements. West of Loathing has so much to offer. If you don't mind a game with a lot of reading, pick it up. You won't regret it!
