TL;DR
This is among one of the best roguelike games there is... The music, the sound, the controls and the combat... it all just fits together so well! I also really like how just like with the forerunners of the genre (Slay the Spire) the game can be played just with the mouse and isn't necessarily too over the top in complexity nor is it lacking in it!
Now I have some gripes with the game
like how the progression system works... ur best bet is to just play with one character for until you get to the final boss... ;) (you'll see what I mean) and the replayability can be lacking -- as in I don't necessarily see the point in getting every achievement (unless I'm missing some big secret). It really is just that, it can kinda feel like you're not progressing with anything... even tho you might be ;) it just feels a bit weird during those times.
Overall I'd give this game an: 8/10
It's an awesome game and an awesome roguelike and I'm looking forward to the developer (whom I belive to be solo dev) to bequeath unto as a second installment! (PLEASE PRETTY PLEAAAASE!)
I've loved games like Slice & Dice, Slay the Spire, Monster Train, Desktop Dungeons etc, but this is just one of the many games of this kind that didn't in anyway appeal to me.
This is a very cool and unique game that combines turn based combat with semi deckbuilding and combat based puzzles. You craft a deck out of different tiles, ranging from simple attacks to techniques such as mirroring your character or manipulating enemy positions. The whole gameplay loop blends very well together and each run differs from the last. There are a handful of different characters, each with their own unique special move and playstyle. There is also a demo of the game if you're not sure about buying it. With all of that being said, this can also be a very frustrating experience, especially if you hit the later difficulties (especially Day 5 and upwards) Runs are no longer based on skill and decision making, but revolve heavily around RNG. If you do not get the right upgrades (damage mostly), there is simply nothing you can do. There are also elite enemies, which can single handedly destroy runs if they spawn in the wrong location at the wrong time. Again, something you can't control. To end this review, the game is at its best when you get a nice deck with synergizing tiles and the right upgrades for it. You enter a very satisfying flow of combining your abilities to clear out the battlefield. The rest (especially higher difficulties) can be extremely frustrating, grindy and sluggish. 8/10
