Civ 4 is the best Civ edition for many reasons. Always will be based on the downward trend of it's successors.
This is game #15/273 of my Steam games backlog. I totally get how this entry is one of the best honestly. Although I got into Civ late with V, and it was tremendously fun, this one clealry leaped ahead of its predecessor into what the series is known. Not just strategy board game, but a whole aesthetic that is very strong, and feels dramatic in scope. Again, I think I've discovered Civ is not totally my thing, or I'm not ready to get into it anymore, but anyone who loves games like this is looking at one of the best.
I'm sorry, but this game is for mentally challenged people. If you've got more than two braincells, you probably won't like this game.
