Used to help my dad playing Silent Hill games back in the day as a small kid as I was the only one who could understand English lol (2,3,the room). I then forgot about the series, until this randomly popped up one day. My god...did it bring back memories of me and my dad being sh*t scared haha. Graphics wise, absolutely beautiful game. Story is also superb and unique, and this time round I could actually understand wtf is going on :D Could not recommend this game enough, or just the Silent Hill series in general. Had such a throwback that I bought a PS2 just to play the old Silent Hill games.
Silent Hill 2 Remake is a masterclass in respectful reinvention. Few games carry the weight of Silent Hill 2. It's not just a horror game; it's one of gaming's most profound psychological journeys. And the remake manages to honor that weight. The level desi- every hallway, apartment, and hospital corridor feels intentional, like the town itself is a character. The fog isn't just ambiance; it's a mechanic. It shapes the dread, limits your sight, and amplifies the unknown. And the enemies, so thoughtfully placed, make each encounter feel meaningful instead of routine. The graphics, gorgeous. The sound design, genuinely unnerving, in the best way. And importantly, it keeps the heart of the original. James' emotional journey still lands just as hard, maybe harder now, with the modern visuals serving the story. This is how remakes should be done. It's not a replacement, it's a second cornerstone. 10 out of 10 for me. A gold standard for horror remakes
Extremely creepy (atmospheric, psychological horror) and would recommend, but after about 20h playtime the "clearing areas (with mostly the same enemies) and then receiving a cutscene" - cycle gets a bit tedious. Soundtrack/audio, story, map, puzzles (challenging but doable) are great. Had no bugs, glitches, crashes or anything; and graphics were amazing.
