Silent Hill 2

I don't remember the last time a game had me this locked in. I finished silent hill 2 remake in just 2 days, and for someone who usually takes breaks between gaming sessions, that's saying a lot. Every time I stopped playing, I was thinking about jumping back in. What impressed me most wasn't the combat or the graphics (even though both are great except the performace, its pretty unoptimized even on my latest gen hardware). It was the atmosphere. This game constanty makes you feel uncomfortable, not because of the tension hanging over every hallway, every room, and every encounter. Silent hill feels less like a location and more like a living nightmare that doesn't want you to leave. James sunderland is one of the most interesting protagonists I've seen in gaming. The deeper I got into the story, the more questions I had, and the more I wanted answers. By the end, I just sat there staring at the credits, thinking about everything that happened. The remake also does something that many modern remakes fail to do: it respects the original while feeling modern enough for new players. Nothing felt outdated, and everything felt carefully crafted. It's not a perfect game. Combat can feel a little clunky at times, and some sections drag longer than they probably should. But honestly? those issues barely mattered because I was completely invested from start to finish. Silent hill 2 remake isn't just one of the best horror games I've played. It's one of the few games in recent years that completely took over my free time and refused to leave my mind after I finished it. If a game can make me finish it in 2 days and immediately wish I could experience it for the first time again, it's doing something special. 10/10. The town called me, and I answered.

i am writing this review after getting 100% all endings and achievements. WOW! where to begin! this game is AMAZING!!!! i really have no idea where to start here in this review so ill just wing it make a short list of particulars that make this game as fantastic as it is and also some things that i feel they could have done a little better with (although there won't be very many of those because this game is quality). ok! (Clears Throat): Graphics 10/10: the graphics are stunning. highly detailed and the artwork is just beautiful it almost feels real its just scary. i could not ask more from a video game. also for those of you who like to take screenshots you don't want to miss out on this! Music 10/10: i mean like really? i have never played a horror game like this that combined such a variety of genres of music into one place. we have calm, chill themes that build a slow sense of dread, we have hard upbeat rock, relaxing piano and string musicals, and scary heart-pounding thrillers whether you are on the run with one bullet left in the chamber, or creeping through dark creaking rooms searching for the next clue for that lock. I LOVE THE MUSIC SO MUCH!!!!!!! Atmosphere 10/10: actually gives me the creeps. brilliant, just brilliant. so brilliant that i might cry. so surreal and hauntingly beautiful sometimes i just walked around looking at things like it feels like taking a walk through a ghost town. i have never experienced such great atmosphere in a video game before in my life this takes the cake. Puzzles 8/10: really good puzzles that will probably have you actually using your brain at times, but its no RE1. Combat 8/10: provides just the basic dodge/attack system used by a lot of souls-likes and considering that this is survival horror it should make you feel very limited and tense during combat which i think it does a very good job at. i had a pleasant time with the combat it was actually so much more than i expected so i have no complaints here at ALL. Weapons 9/10: weapon variety is pretty limited but it also feels VERY rewarding when you unlock a new weapon. i really like how they give you a reliable melee option as well as giving you guns i wish that resident evil could do this as well. also (minor spoiler) [spoiler] what good horror game would be without it's chainsaw? [/spoiler] Enemies 5/10: cool (and creepy!) enemies but variety is not the strongest here. after the first few areas you have seen pretty much all of the basic little enemies. don't take this the wrong way though because getting jumped by mannequins NEVER gets old (lol) and the late game bosses are very cool. this is in my opinion the game's weakest point but hey, the rest of the game DEFINITELY makes up for this. Story 10/10: i saved this for last because... because i felt like it. no but really this is the best part. the story is just so perfect it is at the same time so wacky but also so sad, i really have no words i just have no idea how to explain how GOOD this is without spoiling anything so all i can really say is that it is AMAZING. this is the most emotionally charged and beautiful story i have witnessed in a long time (if ever?). i just really hope that if you do choose to play this game that you enjoy it as much as i have. yeah so after everything i just said and while i am still thinking about how crazy this game is i want to say again: no words that i say will do this game justice. it's just that good. thank you to everyone who took the time to read this review i really hope that it makes you want to try out this game and if you do i really hope that you enjoy it as much as i have because i enjoyed it immensely. again THANK YOU FOR READING!!!!
