Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion is a first standalone and the third overall DLC to the original Sins of a Solar Empire title. It is also a strategy set in space with the science-fiction lore. ###Gameplay The point of the game is to conquer as many planets as possible using the given resources. The protagonist can be chosen out of three races: industrials, aliens and psychics each with unique special abilities. The gameplay process occurs exclusively in online mode, but single battles and succeeds against enemy AI is possible too. However, the campaign as a whole cannot be played offline. ###Key features As in usual RTS, the gameplay is centered around resource management — the title's economy consists of prices on Metal, Credits, and Crystal — each with the individual gain conditions. So it would be impossible for instance to sell all of your metal to the friendly guild — after the wholesale, stock prices decrease and economy shifts towards them like real-life one. While exploring the world, the player may stumble across habitable planets and anomalies which prevent the player from getting to the goal. Anomalies include asteroids, hostile environment, and ice fields.

Runs well on modern hardware.

Been Playing this title for years and years.... So many variations, so many different ways to win the game. Very fun for a RTS, highly recommend
I don't think I have ever heard of, much less played, a multiplayer match in this product that did not desync. It doesn't tell you it desyncs, it'll happily march along as the players act out entirely different ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ realities, but as sure as the setting sun it will desync. It's actually worse than Supreme Commander in this respect, another product I had the misfortune of playing extensive multiplayer matches in - without ever a single one reaching completion in a sensible fashion because the netcode is apparently just that bad. As someone who spent several years modding the project I can attest to the fact it is an utter travesty under the hood and just about everything that could have been done incorrectly was done incorrectly. Their internal tools, like the ConvertXSI utility, are also a disaster and lack any form of proper error handling whatsoever so it's no shock the actual game is a mess. That's before you get into the silly balancing concepts. If your game gets far enough to experience them before it turns into a slideshow from fighters, anyway. Interestingly, the particle effect system in SoaSE is significantly less advanced than that of Warcraft 3, and Blizzard isn't exactly reputable for having modern software in any fashion. On the plus side they didn't use AI for their 2d art like their later product because that avenue of laziness wasn't available to them yet. Shoutout to the good boys that helped my endeavors back in the day. Hopefully you moved on to something less soul destroying.
runs well and the base game is great the modding community makes it even better
