The game is fun and the replayability is insane. Dark mirror (essentially the hard mode you unlock after beating the base game) is โฅโฅโฅโฅโฅโฅโฅ hard and has taken many hours of my life that I will never get back. Please do not play it unless you are a masochist, will cheese the game in all the possible ways or play in rookie mode (I do not know how much it helps in the insanity that is dark mirror level 10). At that point you will probably have already got all the permanent upgrades, so losing in a run will bring you no benefit and probably mean that you've spent ~40 minutes of your life for nothing, and all that will be left is to hope that rngesus will smile upon you in another run. I really recommend also buying the DLC for the game. It is cheap, adds few more quite fun characters and good items. Although the game is not really story driven, the conclusion of it you get after beating the game (in dark mirror) is very satisfying. The reward you get for beating the hardest difficulty of the game (dark mirror lvl 10) is really wholesome:) So, the game is good, but hard. Play at your own caution.
It's hard to know where to begin with a game like Skul! This is a game that routinely surprised me with the amount of content available, from the vast amount of strategies you can find by mixing items, synergies, and skulls, to the fantastic content added by increasing dark mirror levels. The fact you're still learning about new enemies and getting new mechanics by the very end of the achievement list means it's incredibly hard to get bored of this game. By far one of the most satisfying 100%'s I've ever done. Depending on your experience with games like this, it can definitely be a steep learning curve, but in my opinion that only added to the feeling of progression as I slowly but surely made my way through everything Skul has to offer. Even now that I've technically done everything, I like to go back and do runs sometimes to try out new strategies or just have a blast with the ones I already know. Overall, a game that deserves to be far more popular honestly. Well worth a shot for any fans of roguelikes.
Honestly easy game to sink way too much time into, very fun and just enough challenge to keep you wanting a bit more. "Just one more run" right....
