This is my utopia, not the post WWII, space orientated, Jetsons utopia, But an anti-hustle/slacker meets the underground hip hop culture utopia - where everyone ditches corporate metrics for chilling, painting, doing the minimum at work and appreciating music. oh and smokes cigs, lots of cigs. Terri Vellmann and Doseone created a world in which you are helping to reclaim your say in a deteriorating capitalistic city, one tag at a time, and evolve it into a vibrant playground for outcasts to flourish. Music and graffiti are the only currencies that matter. Navigate your way through a city still clinging on to its dying corporate values, as the rest of the inhabitants acknowledge that its all so deeply broken that none of it matters anymore, so lets enjoy the downfall. It's not sustainable by any means, it would be like living life in slow motion. Electricity out? give it three weeks and it'll be back. No food in the supermarket? check back Thursday. But there will always be a good vibe, music and cigs, lots of cigs. 10/10
SLUDGED OUT 4 LIFE... this is fr one of my favorite games of all time. great characters amazing soundtrack and i loveee playing it and love the game design and how open the world is to explore... i hope for a sludge life 3 or some other amazing game from this dev soon...
Sludge Life 2 is a great sequel to the first game, providing the same gross, polluted, and genuine atmosphere as the first game but with some meaningful improvements that make it better than the first. The music is very solid once again, with more "MOOD MUSIC" tracks from "Sad Boy," and three new tracks from the rapper "Big Mud". The biggest improvements in SL2 were the expanded movement options, and more of a cohesive interesting story than the last game. Though the story was still rather barebones, compared to the first game the setup of finding where Big Mud went (you're part of his rap group posse) after a crazy night out is intriguing. SL2 is set in a Ciggy Cigarette City a few years after the events of the first game with an even better level of exploration and secrets than the first game. There is a new Minigame this time instead of Crypt Creeper (minigame from SL1) which was a fun solid side activity. A real highlight of this game that I realized I loved about this series is the zingers and clever lines that the characters you meet and talk to have to say: the wacky and interesting dialogue truly brings the world to life. Another great thing about SL2 though, is the added movement tools such as a launchpad, a modded version of the teleportation device and a pair of sneakers that allow you to run faster and double jump. Overall this was a fun experience. I'd definitely recommend diving back into the Sludge with this game preferably after playing through the brief first game, because discovering the secrets, various endings, meeting the characters, and seeing the sights and sounds were a joy. A very solid 7/10
