Literal incomprehensible gameplay stuff just happens for no reason and everything is out to get you
Spelunky 2 is an amazing sequel that improves on the original is so many ways. The way you progress and get better and better through repeated effort isn't an experience I've had with many games. It forced that effort due to it's high difficulty. Unfair deaths in the beginning begin to feel more preventable as time goes on. I'll likely never finish cosmic ocean, but man was it a rush of adrenaline when I made it there and getting to other milestones in the game. They felt earned through great effort, and there's no other game I've played like it. Top marks.
The funniest roguelike ever made, where you, the player, are the joke. Thereโs a weird sense of joy (and despair) to learning all of the ridiculous ways the game can screw you.
