Edge of your seat STEALTH HORROR as you try to escape the house of a cannibal SERIAL KILLER.... Stay Out of the House is stealth based, VHS style slasher horror. With low poly visuals authentic to the PS1 era, this is the game your 90's self always wanted!

Runs well on modern hardware.

Goated game, best from puppet combo, but you will guarantee at least one heart attack.
I HIGHLY recommend this game!!! I’ve heard a lot of people say that this game is like Granny but playing this game compared to Granny. It’s a lot different. Each tiny movements in this game seems like you might get caught. There are traps set around the house. There are objects that you bump into that make noise, but not only that it’s not just a hide and seek game like granny.. I do agree. It’s a very similar concept. You’re in a house and you have to get out but as you play the game, you realize that there’s an actual story behind what’s going on. Once again, I highly recommend this game. It’s scary the killer. It doesn’t feel impossible in the game is fair.
Developed and published by Puppet Combo, Stay Out of the House is a first-person survival horror game that masterfully captures the grim atmosphere of vintage slasher films through a combination of stealth, exploration, and resource management. Instead of placing players in the role of an unstoppable hero, the game casts them as an ordinary victim who awakens inside the home of a ruthless serial killer known as the Butcher. With only a limited amount of time before becoming the killer's next meal, every moment is spent searching for escape routes, solving environmental puzzles, and avoiding a relentless hunter. The premise immediately establishes a constant sense of vulnerability, making every successful discovery feel earned. The game's greatest strength lies in its open-ended design. Rather than guiding players through a single predetermined path, the house is built as a detailed sandbox filled with interconnected rooms, hidden passages, locked doors, dangerous traps, and useful tools. Progress depends on careful observation and experimentation, allowing players to develop their own escape strategies. Some situations encourage stealth and patience, while others reward creative thinking by using objects or hazards against the Butcher. This freedom keeps the experience engaging from beginning to end, as every playthrough can unfold differently depending on the player's decisions and willingness to explore. Stealth plays a central role throughout the adventure, and the Butcher's unpredictable behavior ensures that tension rarely fades. The enemy reacts to sounds, investigates suspicious activity, and constantly patrols the property, forcing players to think before making every move. Hiding under furniture, slipping through dark corridors, and quietly unlocking new areas become nerve-wracking tasks because discovery often leads to desperate chases rather than easy escapes. Combat is intentionally limited, reinforcing the feeling that survival depends more on intelligence than brute force. The atmosphere is where Stay Out of the House truly excels. Puppet Combo embraces a deliberately retro presentation inspired by classic VHS recordings and early polygonal horror games, using grainy visuals, distorted filters, and low-resolution textures to create an unsettling aesthetic. Instead of diminishing the experience, this old-school style enhances the psychological horror by leaving much to the player's imagination. Combined with eerie ambient sounds, distant footsteps, creaking floorboards, and uncomfortable silence, the game's audiovisual design creates an oppressive environment that rarely allows players to feel safe. Exploration is consistently rewarding thanks to the variety of secrets scattered throughout the house. Hidden rooms, optional objectives, multiple endings, and additional story details encourage repeated playthroughs beyond the initial escape. Environmental storytelling gradually reveals disturbing information about the Butcher and the horrors hidden within the property without relying on lengthy cutscenes or excessive dialogue. This subtle approach keeps players curious while maintaining the mystery that makes the narrative so compelling. The game's difficulty is intentionally demanding and may not suit everyone. Limited resources, confusing layouts during the early hours, and the constant threat of capture require patience and persistence. Some puzzles demand careful attention, and mistakes often result in significant setbacks. However, these challenges contribute to the game's identity rather than feeling artificially frustrating. Players who enjoy methodical survival horror experiences will likely appreciate the satisfaction that comes from gradually mastering the environment and successfully escaping through their own planning. Stay Out of the House stands as one of Puppet Combo's finest horror experiences because it successfully combines immersive simulation mechanics, tense stealth gameplay, meaningful exploration, and an unforgettable atmosphere into a cohesive package. Its retro presentation is more than a nostalgic gimmick, serving as an essential part of the horror while the intelligent level design and replayable structure ensure lasting value. Although its unforgiving nature may discourage players looking for a more casual experience, horror fans seeking authentic suspense, genuine vulnerability, and multiple ways to overcome terrifying situations will find an exceptionally memorable adventure.
